Hyena's e-bike builds (now with HD video)

Thanks again fellas. Thud I think once I beat this you might have to put me on the list for one of your famous 2 speed boxes :)
AJ hasn't stopped raving about his and now the tables are turned, I'm the one layed up and he's the one out tearing around having fun.

I had my bone marrow biopsy yesterday, that was a fun experience. Apparently I was halucinating pretty good with the anaesthetic. When I came too I remember seeing a guy in an easter bunny costume standing at the end of my bed. My wife told me later I said "Look at this arse hole, he's not even handing out any easter eggs"

Anyway, *toot toot* "all aboard the opiate express, next stop, snoozeville" :p

Welcome to my world, cant remeber which OP it was now

the doctor asked me later if i remembered what i said ...i didz, apparently..... i was "supposed" to have been under
by that time.... Hopez it all went well anywayz Jay, OH and haha dont be bothering ThudSTeR for 2 speeds
i already got the word out you are not to be supplied ANY rc gear for e-bike until your 6th year checkup
AFTER your C free ... have to suck it up and suffer with frock motors till then chum :p

Stay strong Jay and dont expect much sympathy from me... well... will give you lil leway during chemo BUT AFTER THAT bluse you'd better be riding again bald head and all or i will be over there on the next plane mullin'z up and slappin'z ya face!!! ;)

KiM'

haha, I've actually been spending alot of time thinking about my next ebike build and how I'd do an RC drive. I've always said I'd move up to those once I've squeezed all I can from frock motors, and now having run the HT3525 on 100v I think I'm ready.
Planning out my next build in my head is a much healthier use of my idle thoughts than dwelling on the negative and permanent alternative of my situation.

haha yeah mate I'm hoping that after the 1st month or 2 of chemo the tumor will have shrunk enough to not be pushing on my chest and nerves to cause all the pain and then it'll just be the sickness from teh chemo itself I have to worry about. The docs say I should have a few good days before I start my next cycle every 2 weeks so you better believe I'll be squeezing a ride in if I possibly can. I'll have to lay off the pain killers so I dont have wonky balance but don't worry, I'll have the gopro fitted just incase :p

p.s dont forgets ya own jammies (PJ's...pyjamas for the USA peoples) those hospital robes are a bitch when ya outside havin a choof with the back all open...oh...nevermind
haha yeah I've already been flashing a bit of crack to the other 'inmates' in the oncology ward

I'm off to buy myself a new eee pad transformer today - 10" android tablet, should be great for passing the time while having chemo and sitting around hospitals. I almost caved and bought my first apple product but I think the android will be much less restrictive than the ipad 2 for customising and haxoring

Pussy  ... wouldnt expect anything less though buddy, save some tabs for when you get that rc
build working 1) you will need them for the endless frustration you will have first aliging the chain seeing your mechanically disabled and basically a big blouse :p 2) you will need them for once the chain is aligned AND STILL throwing off under power, frame flex mate its a bitch...3) when its fixed the endless shaking from the terrifying acceration will be calmed by copious painkillers... :p

o-reeeeally  ....and thats soooo unlike you to Jay  ....flashing crack i mean....not going slow on ebikes :p ... well, that too :p...BAM im on fire this morning buddy LOOKOUT... :p I 'tuned' up on Micks ICE loving go kart buddies yesterday, they werent amused my e-bike does 70 and their karts only do 50km/hr....and get there a whole lot slower, they are all die hard hot rod owners, you can just imagine how well electric conversation goes down with them...i.e "electric motor ! yeah i got one...starts the 350 chev in my 32 coupe  " but not being the stirring type i usually let it slide and agree with them, you know me Jay never one to cause a scene

Get well quick, my man. Let's get you right back to when health troubles might involve nothing more than scrapes from laying down the bike and taking a spill.

If your balance is a little wonky, you could always pick up one of these and modify it...

EX%20screwdriver-powered%20trike-riding.jpg

A frock motor in the back, a few turnigy packs could be built into a nice body-support platform to lie on (heck if you were draining them a bit too hard they'd double as a warming solution for those cold winter rides :D ) some KITT lights on the front of your helmet and you're set.

Skip it and buy an iPad. It's an amazing device. Fast, thin, extremely capable, power lasts more than all day long...

In particularly I love the HD video camera along with iMovie: capture, edit, upload, all from the iPad. Get the 3G version and you get a GPS as well. Snapseed for iPad is also amazing for photographs. Buy the camera connection kit and you'll be set.

You may have to wait a bit in order to get one since they are backordered...

Ambrose

skip the iPad2, They are very decent tablet however the apple company is trying rid exploit such jailbreak. I bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1, this tablet is so awesome beast and I am running rooted on this tablet. The battery 100% to 4% took me 1 day and half in moderate-little heavy use - NOT BAD! The Apple refused let you control your tablet such with the jailbreak or superuser and my galaxy tab 10.1 is so much flexible. FORGET the asus transformer tablet. Lot folks in android forums gave up and got galaxy tab 10.1 instead due lousy performance I.E. lag in movies, and some games that what I am seeing since I involved with other forums.

Problem is ES forum doesn't offer the tapatalk app for mobile. [http://www.tapatalk.com]

Wow sorry to hear this news. Get well soon.
I expect you will be back with more awsome high energy vids and builds.

Wishing you and yours all the best.

Jay wish you well with your recovery.

Dont get chemo. To many side effects, including cancer...

Have you seen this movie - Burzynski: Cancer Is Serious Business movie - http://vimeo.com/24821365? Its like who killed the electric car but its about cancer.

I dont know what type of cancer you have either. If its bowel cancer the best cure is raw fruit and vegetables blended with some aloe vera juice. And any cancer raw fruit and vegetables in a smoothie is beneficial.

Soo... some may have noticed I haven't been online for a while, it's been a whirlwind 2 weeks getting bounced from doctor to doctor for a million tests. I got the bill today for the biopsies I had last week, $850. Ouch, that hurts more than the needles going in! Fortunately a big chunk of that is covered by medicare and hey, if I'm around to complain about the price that's a good thing :p

I've finished all the tests now, they have a positive diagnosis of hodgkins lymphoma. I've been nervously waiting for them to stage the disease and they came back saying stage 2, which is worse than stage 1 but not as bad as stage 4. I have secondary tumors that have appeared in my neck now but apparently prognostically that's still better than it being elsewhere in my body. Thankfully my liver and bone marrow came back clear, if there was involvement there I've be in alot more trouble.
6 months of chemo starts monday, followed by radiotherapy. There's good odds the chemo alone will knock it but the radio is for good measure at the end. They'll do some more nuclear scans 3 months in to see how it's responding, hopefully by then the tumors will have had a decent ass kicking. They said they may not totally go away and may remain there as scar tissue of sorts but as long as it's metabolically not active that's the main thing.

While up at the RTA earlier getting my temporary disabled parking permit I also grabbed an application for a motorbike license.
My missus hit the roof
She put on such a performance I've actually binned it for now. She reckons she's not going through all the stress of nearly losing me to cancer only to have me kill myself on a motor bike. I don't think she realises I'm not safer on my ebike but hey if it helps her sleep easier at night I suppose I'll put it off for now. This just means I have to build an ebike now with true motorbike performance, but with a bicycle frame and pedals to keep her mind at ease :p

hah, apple fanboi :p
It's the shizzle, moving wallpapers 4tw! 8)
It does alot of other cool stuff too over the ipad, the only draw back is there's not as many apps for android but I'm sure that will change in the coming months. That said even the free apps I've loaded it with so far are great and will keep me occupied for ages. It can't handle the 60fps 720p raw footage from the gopro but it can handle 720p once re-encoded. I also like the freedom to drag and drop stuff over USB unlike apple products, and the integrated micro SD slot for expansion means I don't have to pay $100+ extra for the next model up that has $20 worth of extra ram.

Chroot the galaxy was an option but the eee was a fair bit cheaper and will be fine for me. No issues so far.

lol, yeah and if you read the possible side effects on a box of panadol it says headaches too

Call me crazy but I'm taking my chances with modern medicine :p

No I haven't but I'll check it out in my spare time, which I'm soon to have an abundance of!

Thanks again for the well wishes guys, especially those who emailed and PM'd me too. Apologies if I didn't respond to all of the PMs, clearly I've been kinda tied up :)

Anyway enough of that cancer bull crap for now, my next post will be about my new bike I'm building up

If you had to pick a cancer to battle with, you certainly got the one with good survival odds. A friend of mine had that too and went through 4 months of treatment and it never returned. He even got some of his hair back!

Yeah, go with the measurable poisons. Not the ideal cocktail to drink, but the doctors (real ones, not PhDs like me ) probably know more about it than us, so who can you trust?

All the best mate!

CHRIS

Best wishes Jay, and looking forward to see your new bike and how it goes.

Stage 2 is darn good considering how you found out...

The Hyena will b/eat this & live to tell the tale of woe being caught with a motorcycle class eBicycle!
