Is Jimmywu66 & EastUnitedMusic the same person?

There's been lots of discussion about unsatisfied buyers of cheap LiFePO4 batteries on eBay lately from new battery vendors. Many of these eBay vendors are located in China. Two of these vendors Jimmywu66 and EastUnitedMusic have been known to NOT SEND the purchased batteries promptly after they get your money. I myself, have had to send numerous angry emails and open a dispute on PayPal against EastUnitedMusic to get him to finally send my battery. It took a total of 31 days after payment for me to get the battery but... he has still yet to send me the battery charger. :(

I've noticed a few coincidences between these two vendors that makes me believe they are THE SAME PERSON or maybe RELATIVES of each other (perhaps brothers). Here's what I've noticed:
1) Both Jimmywu66 and EastUnitedMusic have been known to sign their emails as Mr. Lau, or Dan
2) They both have wires coming off their battery packs that are wrapped with blue tape to provide strain relief to the wires.
3) They both have the same exact red and white production sticker lables are found on thier batteries.
4) They both have a BMS on their batteries are covered by a large flat heatshrink and is notched at the edge where the wire loom and connector stick out.

Here's a picture of the mailing label when I recieved the battery. Look at the sender's name... it says "Mr. Lau"

Here's a picture of batteries from one of Jimmywu66's auctions on eBay. Notice the wires coming off the battery pack are wrapped with blue tape for strain relief. Also notice the red and white production labels. Look also at the small white wire ties on the wire looms.

Here's a picture of the batteries (I got 3 of them) that I finally recieved from EastUnitedMusic. Notice the same blue tape wrapped around the wires. Also notice the same red and white production labels. Look also at the small white wire ties on the wire looms.

Here's another picture from one of Jimmywu66's auctions on eBay. Notice the BMS is covered by a large flat heatshrink with a notch at the edge where the wire loom and connector to protrude.

Well here's my battery and BMS that I got from EastUnitedMusic. Same BMS covered by large flat heatshrink with the same notch at the edge where the wire loom and connector protrude.

So along with these few "signature items" in the battery production and the use of the same name, I think that Jimmywu66 and EastUnitedMusic are the same person. I know of 2 other ebikers who have bought batteries from EastUnitedMusic and have had the same VERY UNPLEASANT experience trying to get their batteries after they gave their money. So those of you who, likewise, bought (or thinking of buying) from Jimmywu66... BE VERY CAREFULL!!!

Hey!

I accidently posted in the cheap lifepo4 section after reading your post, and honest to goodness, I've got another one!

peterwong228 is jimmywuu66 I guarantee it. I have the two customs declarations side-by-side.

I had a charger blow up the first time I used it on the peterwong228 battery.

Your photos made me think, so I checked my boxes in the garage, and sure enough, same exact return address, same writing for that matter on jimmywuu66 and peterwong228.

The most distrurbing thing is that I've trusted the ebay feedback system before this, but now I can see that there has been a corruption there, and I think they may be using shill feedback. 1 cent listings perhaps, and fictitious buyers for the most part, then perhaps, they go into "business".

I can't make it out on your customs declaration, but, I'm getting a vibration here, a psychic moment....

OHHHHMMMM! ohhhhmmm.

I'm seeing: P-O-BOX.264 Fo Tan Post Office HK

I bet that's the seller's address on the declaration. Just call it a wild guess.

I escalated my pay pal claim today, and I'm going to do what I can to rid the world of dishonest sellers.

bob  :!:

If i knew its this much trouble to get all these parts just to build a bike, I would have just bought one of those fully assembled ebike. Even with their tiny motor of 250w.

Hi Bob,
I'm glad this thread is bringing some light to others who have similarly been duped by this vendor.
Here's a blow-up of that shipping label. Does that return address look the same as the one on yours?
Does the handwriting look the same?

Gotta do this quick before the page times out.

One is peterwong228, the other is jimmywuu66. Can you tell the difference?

The handwriting doesn't look the same as yours, but I'm sure that more than one employee can fill out a form! Looking at your photo, I can see that these sellers are all certainly the same.

...which reminds me... some of the packing material from jimmywuu66 says "Vacuum tube amplifiers". You wouldn't know, by chance what suspended seller eastunitedmusic used to sell besides lifepo4s, would you?

Hey my battery (one I've received) do look like one of your picture. The classic tell tale signs are, 1) box has a pink string wrapped around for handle purpose, 2) I believe he is the only one that makes 2 brick battery.

I've already open a dispute case with paypal and Ebay. I'll escalate this further tomorrow. I'm buying Ping battery in the future. What a moron, he could of had a loyal following (like ping).

Thanks guys for your info. A lot of folks are going for these vendors since the auctions for Ping are going so high. It can take some time to get a battery from china, even from Ping, but never a month, unless the shippers screw up.

Did anyone leave negative feedback? I notice that Jimmywu66 is at 100% positive. I was recently duped by ebay seller qffx, but was able to get a refund and just went back to Ping. Is the feedback system completely unreliable?

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir, but if the feedback is 99% for other things than batteries, then steer clear.

gbw,

I screwed up. When I left my feedback, I made an error and actually clicked on positive.

I felt like such an idiot. In the follow up comments I explained that I meant to leave a negative. I don't tend to leave negative feedback, and even just left no feedback for a jeweller who didn't even send me a bracelet I ordered and paid for.

I know, though, that other ebay users are relying on my feedback, and I hope my mistake doesn't cost anyone a lot of money.

Bob

I will leave a negative feedback - I don't know if I could leave a url to this thread, but if I could, I will. I'd just open a dispute today - so I'm giving him a day to see what he says. I doubt he will say anything though.

I do feel like a schmuck since I've defended him before... he should of kept his service level up. Now I'm going to leave a negative feedback - no matter what he does at this point. People shouldn't have to go through all this trouble for goods they purchased.

Maybe I should stay quiet but I bleed for folks who go through ebay and other internet vendor rip offs. When I decided to upgrade my batteries and go with LiPO4's I looked around and checked out the $1,500 sets that were available. $1,500 was too much money, I believed, to spend on relatively untested technology for ebikes especially when the vendors were courteous enough to indicate they were still working out the bugs. Knowing that I basically ignored anything I had to import directly through ebay or anyone else from China.

So after much looking and googling I found Aten Energy and called Zane last August, a year ago. Aten was putting LiPO4's in baggage vehicles at LAX and other places and Zane was going back and forth to China regularly. So using a AMEX card I bought a 48 volt 20 amp battery with charger from him. It didn't arrive 'till November and since I was out of town I didn't get it 'till the first week of December. I posted a thread about it at the time. The advantage of the AMEX card is two fold, you can easily get help if you get a bad product and you're insured against product loss or damage.

Well the first charger didn't work but he told me to use my SLA charger while he sent me another. Then a few months later the BMS burned out and he walked me through charging the battery without it until he could work through the problem. Shortly he sent me a new charger, an 8 amp model with a built in BMS that charges the batteries in less than an hour under normal, 20 mile, use.

Total invested was around $833.00 which granted is more than Ping but the service and confidence was worth the extra money, to me at least. A vendor sending a battery sans charger would have to be unacceptable, chargers are expensive.

I do have a spare 48 volt lithium charger though that I could sell if someone needed it. It's packed away but right handy if you need info. I think it's a Soneil.

Wow! Looks like you're right... Jimmywu66, Peterwong228, and EastUnitedMusic is all the same person (or same outfit) posing as different vendors. Exact same PO Box number in the exact same Fo Tan Post Office. That actually says a lot. Doesn't matter that the writing is not the same. Could have been written by different post office staff.

No he shows no history of selling vacuum tube amplifiers... the other items that eastunitedmusic shows a history of selling a lot of small, low value items like: baseball caps, DJ headphones, set of Michael Jordan colored shoe laces, Hong Kong $20 Olympic series bank notes, etc. I think you might be right about him using feedback on these small items to artificially boost his selling history and % of positive feedback.

It's normally not that difficult to ebike parts since most part vendors aren't as "shady" like this vendor.

He is no longer answering my emails about the battery charger (that he has yet to send). I'm beginning to accept the possibility I'll ever see a charger from this guy. I thought about escalating my PayPal dispute but what's the point? I did already recieve my battery and I already froze this guy's PayPal account so he can't get anymore money from any of his other active auctions....which is too bad for me and anyone waiting for him to send stuff we bought. :( He can't buy stuff and he can't pay for shipping.

I think all I can do now is go to eBay and give him his 3rd negative feedback to send up an even BIGGER RED FLAG to other potential eBay buyers of his batteries.

I just saw a post from ypedal showing lifepo4s he got from a legitimate supplier. Really, the price of doing business with a legitimate seller is very little more than buying from a less reputable place.

I noticed that one of the subjects of this thread has really stepped up listings of lifepo4s, and while their prices are slightly lower than, say, Ping's, for example, there are still LOTS of bidders/"marks".

Between seeing that, and seeing ypedal and mvadventure's great experiences with sellers, I'm both frustrated and envious.

Ypedal, you may think your batteries were expensive, but right now I'm out more than that, and I'm not sure how I can power a flashlight with these things. I'm thinking about calling the cops.

I do have additional information that I forgot to put up about this shady vendor. It might be important.

His PayPal account ID is: Tamamaleo2008
His personal email that he replied to me a couple of times with is: kochau@hotmail.com
The name attached to both PayPal and email (I assume is his real name): KO CHAU KEUNG

Two vendors with the same address remind anybody of Anna? Those packs were definitely not the same quality as the Pings.

Well, he wrote back with usual diatribe. He basically says he's sorry, he dropped the ball, I'm his favorite customer, blah, blah, blah.

Funny thing, he said all this before and I still don't have a battery or the tracking number he sent is working. I know it takes a bit for post office to update the tracking info, but its been 3 days.

Anyway, I'd tried to put a negative feedback on his ebay id, but backed out. Even after all that, I feel guilty putting a negative feedback. What if this is his livelihood (although he seems to have employees). I keep giving him another day... I'm resigned to fact that I probably lost the money, which isn't a big deal (it is, but its not taking food away from my table), but its my first bad ebay experience and I've been using it since beginning.

Waiting for my East United Music battery.
I've received one communication to determine the shape of the pack which was on the day of payment (Aug 4th), but no responses since.
I'd much rather have a battery than a dispute. It's disturbing that they no longer have any batteries for sale on ebay as of today.
I ordered another battery from seller jimmywuu66, several days later for which I now have a tracking number, but no way to confirm it with the necessary accompanying 'enquiry number'. If it's legit, then they got the unit out in 12 days, which I would consider reasonable.
So. Maybe I am double snake bit, and maybe I just need to let the Olympic fervor die down, and be patient.

that's weird, because jimmywu still gets positive feedback with lots of batteries being sold and delivered????

You don't hear so much from the happy customer. Maybe it is just the olympics that is the real problem. Nevertheless, you don't see posts like this about Ping. I hope y'all get your batteries or your money. When people buy from Ping, it is normal for the package to track leaving China, and then dissapear for at least a week in transit, and then not track till it leaves US customs. It's not unusual for the package to arrive before US postal even tracks it. It's not like ups tracking at all.

I'm not sure why others are getting their batteries and not for others. I've actually had another thread, which went no where, on getting a group buy with this guy. So I could say I was a cheerleader for him at some point.

My problem with Lau is his customer service/communication. The first battery I bought came within reasonable time. The 2nd one - since I had a good experience with the 1st, I've just waited. After 3 weeks, I sent him a email asking for a tracking #. He replied he didn't send it and was waiting for a charger and BMS.

Thats after 3 weeks and if I didn't ask, he probably wasn't even thinking about sending it soon. That is a poor customer service - no comunication, generic response, etc.

Its not about getting the battery the next day - rather its about communicating with your customers. You don't just say nothing for 3 weeks when your customer is expecting the battery to show up at his door - and the subsequent generic responses.

News Flash !!! - he refunded my money. Good riddance. I'm getting ping battery or better yet, Yesa battery... 48v, 30ah.
