Is Jimmywu66 & EastUnitedMusic the same person?

Nope!

Coverage is $315.00 (Canadian $ to boot!)

jimmywuu66 is apparently not a verified premier or verified business...

By the way, he no longer has any items for sale on ebay.

bitter, twisted, and almost going postal,

Bob

I was under the impression that paypal would cover 100% of the purchased item. I mean whats the point of paying their fee when I can just use my credit card. Now I'm just more than annoyed.

Hmmm... here's the designation on paypal - Non-U.S. Verified Business Member (try to send him $1 - but don't send, it will give you his status).

Since China was covered on that list and he is Chinese - and his designation is "Non-U.S VERIFIED BUSINESS MEMBER" with 1000+ rating, I think this qualify. I don't want to get your hopes up, but paypal's been known to "stick" their users. Nothing to lose - escalate all the way up to whatever, its your money!!!

This really does sucks - I tried to go on ebay to leave a negative feedback and can't. The time has elapsed. I thought it would be still be there since I have a dispute with him but no.

Edit: yes, sorry for hijacking the thread and littering the board with our problem.

Edit #2: I'm not sure if we are talking about same person (JimmyWu or Lau). His email address on paypal is - chan71@gmail.com. If you're talking about EastUnitedMusic, maybe try to go with fraud direction? Since he is using bunch of ID's (sorry thinking out loud)

Thank you, leamcorp and rguy56 for hijacking the thread. Your exchange has precisely illustrated one of the points I made in my earlier post, and (as promised) I won't mention the other point. I feel I owed an apology from leamcorp for telling me to check out the buyer protection on ebay in these words:

leamcorp said:
Just in case you didn't know, paypal does have a buyers protection, which China is covered. So once determined that they didn't received the battery, they will get their money back - eventually. Hopefully it wouldn't get to that. So, before shouting, understand your right before spreading a false impression.

It doesn't seem now that my "impression" was false, does it? I don't think I shouted, either.

I await your apology.

Keep waiting and when you have something helpful, do post. As the title of this thread suggest, our conversation is quite on target for this thread, which is related to JimmyWu66 (and now I'm going off the topic to answer you). I said that to be diplomatic to OP.

And what did you contribute? Your view on China policy or your hesitance on sending money to China or your disable status - how is that appropriate?

Try to understand what others are going through before getting involved - Its not all about you. People may have lost large sums of money and you come in and say ---- ohhhh, I wouldn't send money to those people because their governments policy, blah, blah blah. Is that exposed to make us feel better? I've been trying to be very diplomatic, but you just don't seem to get it - so you're on ignore list. Good luck.

To get back, bang on topic...

jimmywuu66, eastunitedmusic, and for that matter, peterwong228 no longer have any items for sale on ebay.

Off topic...

As for political systems vs. batteries... that's a tough one...

but you know, they will just turn up under a new ebay id a few weeks later. who knows, maybe cammy is jimmywu

I doubt it. Jimmywu had different cells , different specs. Strangely ,there is a new vendor shipping from the UK. No bogus feedback on him, just none. It's likeley he speaks engilsh too!

I was concerned that if I didn't file a dispute within 30 days of my ebay purchase, I would lose my chance to do so.
I demanded a response from Dan at East United Music 3 days ago, under threat of filing a dispute. I now have a tracking number that works.
The item was purchased 08-04-08, and shipped 08-29-08.
The total time for East United Music to process my winning bid was 25 days (which encompassed the entire Olympics BTW).
So. Maybe this is good news.
I plan to update the ES board when the unit arrives.

Not too bad.

Does it work?

What do I know. I'm waiting on parts. I will post pics later. No rush as I can't test output yet.

My first take on the battery overall is that it looks workmanlike, and practical. I would have liked to see better moisture protection to the BMS.
The charger connector is cheap plastic, but easy to swap out if it really bothers me.

Does it work? Must be patient.

I'm also still waiting on my 38v/15Ah battery from East United Music ordered 3 days prior to this one, but that one is also tracking through http://www.hongkongpost.com with the number they provided me.

Optimism reigns supreme for the moment.... more later.

Hey my tracking # is actually working now. However its still in hong kong. so I got another 2 weeks of waiting probably. So all together 7 weeks total for a fricking battery. I read one negative feedback on jimmywuu recently that some buyer waiting 8 weeks and counting & still no battery. YIKES!

I was thinking about getting the Direct Plug-in Cycle Analyst from ebike.ca . Do yall think this is absolutely necessary? I mean for LifePo4 if we drain it all the way will it decrease the life span on it? So if I get this cycle analyst it will tell me how much amps i got left in it right? So that means I can prevent it from draining too much & that would be better for the life span of the battery?

Very nice to have a CA, but once you have a few long rides under your belt you will know pretty well how far you can go on your bike, and then use a speedo to know how you are doing. Allmost all battery types benefit from shallower discharges, so it is real good to be doing rides that leave a healty reserve at the end when you charge back up. Mine happens to be 25% since my battery will go 20 miles mostly uphill, and my ride is 15 on the same route. One good windy day though, and I need every bit of it to get home. One thing that has tripped me up though, is light charges. I had some loose wires in my charger that mostly worked, but when they didn't the led indicated full. So knowing what went into the battery can be more important than what went out.

Okay this just keeps getting more strange...people are starting to finally get there batteries and chargers or refunds from these "rouge" vendors.

I can add my experience to the list too because I finally got my charger delivered today. After 2 weeks of no response to my emails I escalated my PayPal dispute to a full claim. Two days later he (Dan, aka EastUnitedMusic, aka Mr. Lau) replies to my PayPal claim with a tracking number. Wow! he finally sent the charger. On top of that... he sent it to me via 3-Day Express Mail. Very Strange. After making me wait 46 days, not answerring my emails, and forcing me to file disputes and claims against him, why does he suddenly have the urgency to send it to me in 3 days? :?

BTW there's writing underneath the charger that looks like instructions...but it's in Chinese. Does anyone read Chinese out here?

Sooo.... I tried charging the batteries he sent me 3 weeks ago and it looks like the BMS is shot and doesn't work. No signs of voltage increase on my volt meter even after 20 minutes on the charger. DAMN!!! So I unhooked the BMS and connected the charger directly to the red and black wires of the battery...and it looked like it started charging. I noticed the built-in fan in the charger kicked into hi gear. Thirty minutes later I try the battery on my ebike and went for a short but successful 3 mile ride. Well looks like it worked so I'm fairly relieved. I'll feel even better tho after it passes more tests that I have planned.

Lifepo4 don't act like sla's. It will take a long time to show any voltage change charging. Not 20 minuites. Charge for 12 hours through the normal charging wires before you decide it doesn't work. The full capacity of the pack will take about a half dozen cycles or more to develop.

I'm glad people are finally getting their stuff! I never really thought y'all were getting scammed so much as buying from a guy who goes looking for the product after he sells it. Just basicly a sloppy buisness more than a true ripoff. Eventually things get shipped, maybe even the correct thing.

There should be 2 lights... one is red power light and is always on. The 2nd one is a charging light, which goes from red to green once charged. Typically his batteries take 3-5 hours for the light to change. I usually leave much longer than that (overnight) with no ill effect.

Forgot, I'm getting additional charger and possibly BMS unit from Ping - I don't care he is delivering, I'm done with Wu.

There was no negative feed back for jimmywu when I ordered my battery. Since then I see from the ebay feedback that some people have been waiting longer then me and are still waiting. It took over three weeks to ship my battery and about another week for delivery. This was at the end of the Olympics and my tracking number did not show on the HongKong Post site for may days. I hope that everyone that is still waiting gets the resolution they desire in the near future.

The electrical type covering the connection between the positive charging lead and the power lead looked sloppy. I took the tape off and found that the connections was only made by twisting the wires together. No solder. This makes me worry about the connections under the duck tape, so I will be taking things apart to make sure everything is alright. More to come on what is inside.

There is a large sticker on my battery with the url lipfepo4.hk. You can ping this address, but there is not a web site up. This may be an old site before my time or it may be a site that jimmywu will use in the future. Whoever this guy is he seems to want to be in the lipo battery business, but doesn't have the correct business model. He gets into delivery problems, gets his accounts locked, and then pops up under another name. If he would only take a lesson from Ping and not post for sale batteries that don't exist. It would have cost me at least $220 more to go with a Ping battery, but I feel the piece of mind would be worth the money.

Pretend 20 million bought ebikes in the USA and ebikes were just starting to make inroads into China...

...methinks you would start an ebay store too.

AAaahhh, but Tyler - for at least ONE of "us" here, it's as much about the business model as it is about the product. Stories about twisted and taped, but not soldered connections are one thing. Hearing about a guy who sells batteries, THEN goes looking for production is something else! Taken together, I'm quite content to keep reading about the trials and tribulations other folks put up with while technology, production methods and quality control and business models come into alignment. Meanwhile it's gonna be NiCad or NiMH, or even SLA for me.

OOPS!!! I hope I haven't offended Mr. leamco again by not limiting my post in this thread to strictly the thread title. I am just responding to the thread as it exists today, not trying to redirect it.

AS THE WORLD TURNS...

In spite of a paypal claim I have with Lau Chan, he's sent me replacement batteries.

If I trusted his workmanship, this would only pose one major problem. I'm awaiting a refund from paypal on the first purchase, and where in heck does he think the money is going to come from for more batteries????

That would be over $3,000, and that's not monopoly (Canadian$), that's real money, and real money with no ebay or paypal protection. I emailed him not to send the replacements, but he sent them anyway. Tracking number works...

What the heck?

You mean he asked for more money? Don't pay that - thats ludicrous. I think you deserve whatever you are owed + plus some level of compensation for tying up your money and wasting your time (and all that fun factor missed while it was still summer with the new battery).

As for his battery, I don't know about other peoples battery but I haven't had any problem with it yet... for over 500+ miles on one battery and another 500 on another. The workmanship is bit amateurish, but I heard same thing with Ping pack also. But at this price, I didn't buy a Lexus quality - rather, I wanted a working Hyundai (early version) for cheap until US/AUS/EU manufacturers price came down. If I could get 2-3 years out of this, I'll be happy. And compared to SLA, its night and day in terms of usability.

Nice to hear the battery at least works when you get one.

East United Music Update
The item was purchased 08-04-08, and shipped 08-29-08, and received 9-05-08. Shipping Cost at current exchange rates was $78.02 USD or $609 HKD to central US.
The total time for East United Music to get me my battery(which encompassed the entire Olympics BTW) was 31 days.
Actual Weight 13.3 LBS.
The charger is identical to the one I received from ebay seller 'jimmywu66' a few days ago.
The duct tape is slightly different, but the package, form factor, name of the sender, funky red twine, and even the little stickers on the positive, and negative leads are identical. I don't pretend to understand this business model of doing business under multiple names, but I do feel very fortunate to have gotten my batteries after what some on this forum have endured.
I am having trouble posting images, but I've documented everything. PM me if you have questions.

For an ebay auction buy, that's too long to ship. No doubt the olympics did not help things, but for comparison, a special order from Ping will take two weeks to be manufactured, and then a week to ten days to ship, so a month wait is not that much more. Still, he should not auction something he can't ship right away without saying so in the auction!
