Is my dropout too wide?

Building my first EBike, one of those larger Enduro ones. Looking at the frame, the dropout is 177mm. All of the hub motors I can find have a dropout of at max 155mm. Is that a problem? can I just use spacers? It's only going to be a single speed, if that makes any difference.

Seems like an expensive, heavy, legally problematic way to go for a first e-bike project.
