I want to build a Lit Motors copycat, for those of you who don't know the C-1 is a self balancing motorcycle. I think it would be pretty cool to build something simaler, yet that can be registered as a moped. For the gyro I am going to use counter rotating brake rotors, but I'm not sure on the foward propulsion or the body, so I can still have transportation in the 6 months of freezing torture local known as "winter" in Michigan. I want it to have a least a 20 miles range, and be capable of 45 MPH as cheap as possible, like super super cheap like so cheap it's not right.
Thanks a ton guys,
Will

Hahaha I'll try not to, I was wondering is anyone here familer with gyroscopes/Lit Motors Gyroscopic System? I am wondering if it is better to mount the Gyros flat like in the C-1, or vertically like in the jyro bike? Also why in the C-1 do the Gyro's move as the bike leans? From what I understand it it is a matter of efficiency/safety but it is it really needed? To add the axis it would cost a lot of money and add a ton of complexity and trouble shooting? Hope someone here knows a little bit about Gyroscopes!

dont make it too much of a "copy cat"....or it will never become a reality !
Can't you copy anything as long as its 'not for profit'?

He, he, he's even cant understand simple matter of why gyros move. Well, because in other case it would fight the steering and it has to work with the steering. You can dream a lot of stuff, imagine that you can make/build complicated stuff, but when you start, most of the time even simple stuff is a challenge and in the end it was just a dream...

Apologies, I was thinking that if put vertically it would hinder turning, but I was not sure and I didn't want to make a fool out of my self, unbeknownst to me I had already had  although I am really a noob to gyroscopes. Really all I want to know what is the cheapest motor/controller/battery combo capable of the performance I have previously stated.
Thanks,
Will
P.S. I know I am in over my head but it's not a project if it doesn't involve some hair pulling

There are some good threads covering the innards of the c-1 somewhere here.
