Mushymelon's Strong build

Nice job! Turned out looking great!

Hello Fellow Canadian!

Is that a Job Mate Box for your chargers?

I just picked up a couple of the BC168 myself. I like!
I'm using the HP 600PB server supplies 575 watts :)

Very nice work!

I've been welding on and off (hobby) for years. I've been teaching at the UofG in Kemptville for past
7 years. Although I teach mostly math, there is a welding program so I went in and passed my
TIG ticket :)

So I'm thinking of building something (frame) that will house my battery. I'm tired of putting it on my
back in a backpack....... :D

Again, awesome work here!

Thanks Tommy

I think it may be a job mate its a walmart box.

Its just a test mule for now I scored a really awesome electrical panel box with big handle. They were scraping it at work it's almost brand new.

As for the backpack I wouldn't want to wipe out with a pack on my back. Custom frame for sure.

Heres the panel I Scored!

awesome box. i was a bit worred that box was going to come alive and tear my flesh with a million teeth but it fits and looks so perfect in the frame. nice work.

so how do you access the connectors to charge? do you have to unscrew those screws on the thin access panel?

Nice work there.
Do you break the series connection before charging with the bc168's?
If not did you disconnect the earth wire on the psu's?

Yes the series connection will be broken before charging
I made a single plug that get pulled before charging.

to bulk charge you'd need to disconnect the series plug, but if you're charging 24 cells independently, i shouldn't think you'd need to disconnect the series plug. or have i suddenly lost my mind. it's entirely possible.

The box was really hard to get that snug I wanted it to compress both pieces into the triangle. I even had to remove the vinyl under the top bar to get it there. Good thing I painted first. theres only a millimetre space between the shock and the box and the same for the controller and the swing arm and no space against the frame at 7 places . Pure luck that it fits at all.

I thought Trex skull myself lol

The dc power supplies share a common ground they need to be isolated. Others have reported strange behaviour even when isolated and charging in series. Such a big investment I thought I would make an easy way to disconnect the series connections to be safe, its really easy actually.

Heres a single plug I made from Andersons.

Yes the three screws remove the panel to access charging and series disconnect.
It lines up good and the vinyl holds the screws in place, so it only takes a second.

Love that build!
Congrats! I am amazed about everything, specially the battery case and... The wiring!

Repurposed an old job site box into a new Heated Bike Locker.
Its just a hundred watt bulb inside a pot light box. Has a thermal sensor in for safety had it laying around. If there is a better was to heat it under 100w let me know.
At around -12c / 10f its holds around 10c / 50f inside that should keep my lipo's happy.
Hopefully the steel box will prevent my garage from burning down if if it goes nuclear.

Hi Boomer I took a couple of photos but the flash on my phone didn't work but, its a pretty simple setup.
Its just a foam pad with a slot for the cylinder that holds the hall or reed switch. The magnet was designed to just clip on but it was pretty lame it would probably come loose the first trip in the bush, So i just kept the lower part and bolted it on.
