New lower cost CellLog 8M now available

One additional consideration is that if you use the same wires to do balancing then they may be carrying significant currents. A resistor will drop voltage and likely interfere with the balancing operation.

A fuse is surely the best approach, but not knowing a source for reliable, affordable fuses I opted to build up my last pack using a very short piece of thin wire (28 gauge) right off the bus bars between cell terminals. And then run 22 gauge from there. Thus if a problem does occur, long before the 22 gauge should get dangerously hot I expect the 28 gauge to burn and it is at a point where the burning is least likely to lead to a bigger problem.

My 8M arrived yesterday from HK. It looks like the same product with a few parts depopulated. The USB connector is gone as well as the chip that interfaces to the USB but the rest of the product looks the same. More when I have some more time to try it out. I'm booked until next week.
