Hello. I’m new to ebikes in general. There are some limitations in the Engwe Engine Pro 2.0 model. For example, the motor cuts off power after 28 mph, and you continue with only pedal power. When the speed drops to 25, the power comes back, and it cuts off again at 28.

Is there any software available that would allow me to change this limit? Thank you.

First time i've heard of this company.
Have you considered getting a programmable controller & replacing the original one?

It is one of the cheap Chinese brand. Replacing the controller is an option but i have zero knowledge about them, not sure which one will be compatible with the motor, battery and other components. And there is not much options about ebike parts.

So my first choice is to try the softwares that can read the controller.

Are you familiar with the softwares about this process? I just found one for bafang motors but hot sure if it will read mine. Still waiting for the cable for connection. Can you recommend me other software for rear motors?

Here's the thing, there's thousands of supposed brand names of cheap Chinese controllers rotating every year. With none of these companies/units staying around, there's no incentive to hack these controllers, and certainly no incentive for the manufacturer to support their product in any way after sale.

People only bother to hack the good stuff that stays around for a while.

Bafang is an extremely common brand that's been around for decades, so of course there's some aftermarket support.

That really make sense. However, there is a reason why Chinese brands are cheap. They often copy things that have been around for a long time and are widely accepted. Maybe they have used something similar in their software as well. That’s why I want to try all the available software on the market. Is there any software you can recommend?

Yeah typically there isn't a programming interface to begin with. The program is on ROM. The cheaper the component, the less likely it is to be programmable.

It would help others help you if you posted a picture of all labels on the controller and also the board internals to identify the controller.

>80% chance it's some fly by night unit that's never been documented and never drew the interest of some EE/hacker.

I don't mess with prebuilt bikes ( go figure, we're a DIY forum ). I only use programmable controllers, so i can't be helpful here other than to adjust your expectations!

There’s plenty of info and videos about unlocking the speed via the standard display interface, no programming or programming cable needed.

I will do that when i get the bike on my hands.

Those actually work to some level but the bike is still limited. The previous model, Engine Pro, could reach a certain speed using only the throttle, while the Engine Pro 2 model can reach that speed with pedaling assist, but then the motor power cuts off. No matter how much you pedal, the speed decreases. Once it drops to a certain level, the motor reactivates, but then it cuts off again. This creates a sort of fluctuation. I just want to change that.

My options are very limited.
Well if you're up to it, I'm interested in seeing how this works out. Absent a program from the manufacturer, you'd need to build something yourself. You will need to determine the communication protocol being used and need to build and interface to communicate with the controller's MCU. Some of the threads and associated repositories below may have helpful information.

I'm having similar issues. I really don't like there is a speed limit attached to a PAS level. I would like it to gently assist me.. not go full power untill it reaches the speed limit.
I'm looking at replacing the controller. Anybody any idea what is the wire diagram of this KCQ controller? IMG_8758.jpg
