My index finger actually feels like a hammer hit it. I hope i can put a glove on for the race. :evil:

Quite a collection of bikes, will be interesting to see how they all stack up against each other.

Hope you have better luck at the races than you do with handling batteries.

tsk,tsk.
this is just heart breaking.....time to call the ASPEC on your malitious practices..(American Society for the Protection of Ellectrical Connectors)
looks like the new chargers are working properly too!

Ice that burn down, schmere it with vasoline & get a surgical ruber gloves to wear inside your normal glove to stop any chaffing.....or really man up, rub some dirt on it & get back in the game!

& be carfull for crying out loud.

Ouch, How did it happen? and didn't you shorted wrong connectors cause blow up?

Good thing, You didn't lose your fingers. :lol:

Day-um, that is scary lookin, :shock: Glad they didn't burn off!

PS - anyone else reminded of that box in 'DUNE' that the Duke's Son has to put his hand into?

Update guys,

The fingers are still intact and still able to do all the dirty little deeds I ask them to do. :roll: Thanks for your concern guys, this round of KFF definately made me more cautious. I was connecting batteries last night with welding gloves on. :lol:

On another note, I finally managed to get the motor to spin on the jr. Brute, so I will have at least one race bike in the race this weekend. I have a Lyen ebike tester, and hopefully it will help me get all my hall and phase wires proper. TBH, this bike is the best chance I have of winning this race, I am used to it, it has been proven to be quite fast and hopefully this rain will give me an advantage in cooling so I can pump up the power a bit while the ICE guys are bogged down with moisture. We will see how good the pirelli's do in the rain though.

Speaking of the rain, I would like to get this friction drive mounted for the race, but I have a feeling the rain will not suit this type of drive, so I may bring my front hub motor bike for the low power class with it's horribly handling and sketchy steering. I just want to focus on getting one bike 110% and then I can turn my attention to the Racer X and the friction drive.

Back to the workshop...

I started using curcit breakers with a reset button for my builds and leve them open till last then just flip the switch if soemthing is wrong it will pop and i will figure it out.

Nice one Arlo, I will try that!

Update, I have got the Jr. Brute up and running finally! Although, I need to fiddle with the hall/phase wiring, sometimes it wants to run backwards. At least I hope it's incorrect wiring. I'm 80% sure I'll have a runner for the race tomorrow, IF it is still on...

I also managed to get my extra controller programmed, so I have a spare ready to go! :mrgreen:

I'm off to get some connectors and other parts, today is turning out better than I expected, now if only the weather will cooperate, I can make a dash for ebike dominance. I haven't heard if anybody else is coming to the race. there usually seems to be at least one dark horse entry though. :twisted:

yo etard,
I thought i had a paper in that box of motor's showing wire combos for cw & ccw rotations......or was that another customers? anywho...sounds like your figuring it out.

looking fwd to a report on lyen's hall identifier.

Whoa whoa. What race is this??? Is it pissing buckets of rain down there like it is a few hundred miles north of you?

Deathbike is in good health right now, and ready to crush things, but I don't know what race you're talking about!

its the Bairdco racing series at the Kart track in Riverside....

You mean this paper with random crossing patterns that make no sense :lol: :

what does it all mean?

Luke, you are welcoome to crash at my place if you need to, I'm about an hour away from the track.

Scared the hell outta me!!... Thought you were talking about the grange race :shock: :shock: :shock:

hmnnn. I thought i color coded all the wires on that.....

motor colors=
p1= yellow
p2=(i thought red?????? Been a while :lol: )
p3=blue
motor hall wires=
h1=yellow
h2=green
h3=blue

controllers are all the same(we built them after all !)
P&h
1=yellow
2=green
3=blue

SOOOOOO-
motor phase yellow to controller phase yellow
motor phase red? to controller blue
motor phase blue to controller green

halls=
motor yellow to controller green
motor green to controller yellow
motor blue to controller blue
hall red to controller red
& hall black to controller black

see it makes perfect sence! :mrgreen:

lol, I was in a panic too, thinking whoa! I thought i had a month or something! lol

I have no rain tires, I'm on slicks. I have a bike with so much power on hot dry pavement it's a traction nightmare when giving the most gentle little throttle inputs possible. It will make for 16hrs of driving to get there and back, with my bike hanging out the back of the insight with the hatch open pouring rain inside the hatch area onto the hybrid battery. Getting hurt is not just an option, it's more like a certainty.

Sounds like a go. :)

21 days to the next Grange race, April 7th.
Hey etard i will see you tomorrow at Adams

cool beans Neil,

Maybe you can show those guys how a professional organizer does it? :wink:

Your a nut job Luke, And I wouldn't want it any other way. :twisted:

Etard- This is on you to win for us buddy. I'm out. I geared up and went for a rip on the streets here around work in the rain, and my bike is just setup extremely poorly for rain. I can't get enough braking traction to get it to shift it's weight onto the front tire (and no rear brake) so it just wants to wash out like a mofo. I could spin the tire and make it fishtail with 1/8th throttle at 50mph... Felt like driving a top-fuel dragster with roller-skates installed instead of tires. I would need to de-tune a 40hp decrease out of her to be able to road race her effectively, and then it's still not going to brake well and be a heavy wet pig.

I'm sorry I won't be joining you guys, I hope it goes awesome and an electric dominates like usual. :)

No eBikes have beaten AGK's monsta 4 stroke on the track yet :mrgreen:
OK, he ran low on oil at Grange and DNFed due to engine damage,
but he still had a healthy lead on PaulD on the l2th lap when his
motor died.

Breaking down mid race and losing is called getting beat in a race. If it wasn't I've been on the biggest race winning streak in history, including every drag racing event where something explodes mid-track while I'm ahead. LOL :)

WOOT!!! Great job Etard!

Make sure your no-load current with the tire up is low, it should be about 2-3amps max. If it's not, you may need to fidget the hall sensor placement to advance or retard until it's neutral. (unless it's internal, then just go for it. :) )
