Hi
first post here so I apologies if it not in the right place.
there is a LOT! of info on this forum but I could not find the answer I was looking for - if there is an an answer please point me there and I will do some more reading.

I am designing a secondary "consumers" battery for a two battery system on an off-road vehicle.
The plan is to have a 12v 32Ah LifeoP4 battery to run a fridge, lights etc..

the deliberation on the battery design - as I think I have two options
1. creating 4 battery packs:
- 4 cells with BMS giving 12.8v 8Ah pack
- Connecting those 4 cells in Parallel to give 12.8v 32Ah
- total 16 batteries and 4 BMS's
2. creating 1 battery packs
- 4 batteries in Parallel to give 3.2v 32Ah
- connecting the 4 cells in serial to give 12.8v 32Ah
- adding one BMS

the system is not expected to draw more than 10Ah max
I will add DC2DC 12v >> 15v 10A
The batteries will have a direct connection also for a case of starting the car in high Amps is needed

I could not find which design is preferable
all the ones I saw were #2 but no real explanation why
Design #2 is simpler but I thought #1 will give better management for each individual cell.
I know that in #1 they might charge each other but they will be all connected to one port
another advantage of #1 is that I can use smaller packs and not the whole thing if needed

puzzled - help will be greatly appreciated

the components I thought about are
1. batteries - headway 38120 cells - got them for a fair price and they are willing to ship overseas to me :)
2. DC2DC - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32961017772.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4fce4c4dOADpmB
3. BMS for solution2 - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32921429106.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4fce4c4dOADpmB
4. BMS for solution1 - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33007670915.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.5c0d3c00zJwp9e&mp=1

Parallel first, then series is how every battery manufacturer on the planet does it. The only time you would series first and then parallel is if you were adding a range extender to your vehicle, like Zero does with their motorcycle battery packs. And yes, both battery packs would need their own BMS.
