Spring seat suspension bouncing - is elastomer better?

Haven't had a chance to experiment with damping. However, did realise that the excessive setback of the NCX can be mitigated. Notice anything different about the one in the photo? Won't be immediately obvious, but compare it to your own and you'll see.

I put a Satori Beatbox on my latest build out to try out the elastomer craze. Does make things smoother, but hardly any movement compared to my Satori Harmony pogo stick.

Personally, I love the excessive set back. I prefer a crank forward, upright riding position. Easier on my wrists. I almost bought a Safort suspension seatpost specifically because it looked like it had even more, but didn't seem worth paying double.

I imagine if you don't want set back you can just use it backwards.

Yeah, it can be used to your advantage. I have one bike like that, for leisurely cruises, front suspension, ballon tires, suspension post with more setback than the NCX, plush saddle, and swept back bars.

For my other bikes though, the extra setback is unworkable - I'd need to drop down two frame sizes. I'm willing to try again though, with this rejigged NCX.

Reversing the posts is a no go unfortunately, The angle of travel requires rearward tilt. 90 degrees would be the practical limit, but that's suboptimal, they'll function better at <80 degrees.

Yeah, top link there does seem to have been removed and reversed. Nice having that option. For the Satori pogo sticks, they need a half dozen different models with different set back 😅

Each in four diameters, four lengths, and four colour options. Must be almost a hundred different posts. Crazy stuff.

I've seen pictures of those broken, which terrified me into not buying.

If you really want something between seat post and seat, I have one of these on my folding bike, and it works fine:

Yes, no fun if it breaks. If you are not too heavy, maybe worth a try. I have not broken one yet. They can be found on aliexpress for around $9.

The air seat looks interesting. Which one do you have? Model 35 or 25? $47 vs $83 , 350 vs 250 grams. Kind of confusing. Any shocking absorbing differences other than weight/ materials?

Model 35 set for 120kg here:

I weigh 200lbs, so gram differences in components is completely irrelevant to me. Glad they can take weight weenies for a ride to fund their business, though 😁
