Hi folks, I've searched but not found the info in the manual or any user written guides or anything.

Any ideas on adjusting the brightness, mine is so bright when you turn on the back light you can't make anything out on the display when in low light conditions.

I'm hoping it's in some hidden button press sequence or menu, or there is a potentiometer or similar to adjust inside...

Don't believe it"s possible as it's a cheap display. Probably just a simple diode illuminating.

But it would be great if were possible.

Ouw well, I thought that might be the case. It's only a nice to have really, it's just more annoying to have the backlight feature that's functionally ineffective than it would be not to have one at all.

Tbh if it didn't have the display at all I'd probably still be happy enough, I never remember to reset the trip meter and don't really care how fast I'm going (from slow to very slow! Haha).

FWIW, if there is no built in adjustment, you can add a potentiometer in series with the backlight (if it's LED), to be able to manually change the current thru it which will change it's brightness.

If you only need to make it permanently dimmer, then use a pot to find the brightness you want, then measure the resistance the pot is set to, and install a resistor of that value (or the closest available) in it's place.

A better hack is to find the driver circuit for it and change the input to it that controls the brightness, but it's more complicated.
