Ah well, I took welding, so let's see. I was taught that you do NOT want to stick weld your off roader, your bike, etc., they''ll have big corrosion problems, which is what the gas in MiG and TiG is supposed to prevent. Most or maybe by now all of your flux core wire feeders can have the gas added to go MiG, so it's a good way to start. You are only supposed to do wire feeder outdoors with the flux core and not MiG. Just trying to fill in a few things not covered.
There is aluminum stick welding, aluminum you name it, always harder than steel. Haven't tried them yet, years ago I picked up this filler metal that you supposedly can join steel and aluminum, etc.. I had two kinds, I hope they're properly marked because I forgot. This looked essentially like brazing in the how to videos.
The problem with welding is it's so easy in the class with the equipment set up right and the teacher telling you what you're doing wrong. Quite a transition to getting your own equipment going at home.
