I am planning on swapping my phase wires from the controller to the hub to 10ga, and was planning on running new hall sensor wires too. I have a spool of 22ga wire, but it's all one color. No problem; the local hardware store has pre-colored wires, already cut to the right length with the hall to hub connector included. I have a bunch of this stuff lying around so it's already free for me.
8 wires= 5 hall sensor wires and 3 temp sensor wires; perfect!

Jared, take a look to see if it is stranded or solid conductor. The solid will fatigue with vibration. Also the temperature capability of the CAT5/6 conductor wire is not stellar. You can test it with your soldering iron to get an idea how soon it starts to "flow" with temperature. I just pulled one spec on CAT5 cable and it was only rated to 75 deg C with PVC insulation for information.

What about those usb extension cables Kingfish used in his setup? I have forgotten how they fared....
