Yamaha YZ250F

This is worrying, this guy didnt know what encoder he had and ran sensorless. He then tried to get good starting torque with HFI, but managed to blow a mosfet.

The auto detection did not give me max amp. Like the asi bac8000 I had on my other build. You go in the max amp setting and set it to whatever you want. Also I would not buy from the reseller guy on Facebook as he seems like someone who talk a lot but know not that much. I bought directly form 3shul but not on the website. I talked to hackey via messenger and ordered the cl700tp and paid with PayPal directly to him. And he always respond within 2 3 hour to my message.

The max amp was just to see if the controller would have an idea what the motor can take.
I plan to go directly from 3shul or Hackey, no reason to buy from a reseller if he isnt in EU I think.
Maybe I should try messenger and see if he is more responsive there, thanks :)
Does the 3shu have support for the encoder you use? Looks like C700/CL700 have very limited support for different encoders/sensors. Cant understand why they don't have proper sensor support in their HW when VESC SW obvious has.

Their specification says: "Supported Sensors: SIN-COS, ABI,HALL,AS5047,AS5048A, Sensor-less"
I dont know if there are any more sensors you would want support for?
I have hall sensors, and the later motors have ABI if I have understood it correct. SIN-COS is new on the new line of controllers I think.

The new motor have ABI and it work flawlessly with the 3shul.

After this weekends ride, a flat with fat tube
Two big cuts from a nasty pinch.
Maybe I should go for mousse, but I will try one more time with a new fat tube and a little more pressure.

There was no sin-cos on the C700 spec, though qs180 had it. Either way, it uses ABI so no worries then.

Yeah ditch the tubes! I love the nuetech tubeless system, but many people don’t like it because of the complexity. But yeah, a mousse would be a much better option than an air tube. They actually make a 7 mm thick inner tube that’s meant for hard Enduro and it comes with two rim locks. I believe it’s called Luciolis enduro inner tube. They’re quite expensive though about the same price as a mousse.

You could 3d print that chain reduction gasket out of tpu.
Yes, maybe it is time to have a go at the 3d printing again.. I dont think my ender 3 is very good at soft materials, and I am very bad at 3d cad..

Eastwood, interesting with the alternatives. My tube (that I think is thick) is 4mm, 7mm must be a monster :oop:
I had a new tube, so I am using that until next time..

Yeah 7mm is really beefy, almost like another tire 😅
Some people prefer inner tubes so they can run the lower pressure but the risk of pinch flat as you know. With the mousses we stuck at a certain psi feel which gets softer overtime. Some people drill holes in the mousses to give it lower, psi feel but then they don’t last but for maybe one tire Chang when they’re drilled. I know some guys that race hard Enduro and they do this, but they put a new tire and new moves for every race. That’s why I like the tubeless system because you go with zero psi “if needed” as Long as the inner chamber is at 100 psi. I’ve never go below 5psi with the rear tire. But of course, with the tubliss system, you have to keep tire plugs and repair kit so it’s typically not the best for racing which I don’t race.

Thing is, I dont run super low pressures. Before the flat it looked like 0,8bar rear and 1bar front on my analog meter.
I then got a digital little pressure tester, that showed 0,6bar rear (8,7psi) 0,8bar (11,6psi) front.
After the flat I went to 0,8bar (11,6psi) rear and 1bar (14,5psi) front on the digital.

This is today:

Hard to see on the picture, but it is a flat 😒

The front flat was not a pinch, it was around the valve. The tire had probably moved a little, but I think the tube was a little old as well.
Anyway, I had got it in my head that I should run mousse, so here we go:

So far it feels nice, the extra lip to get on the rim dont really set off any alarm bells at this stage 😕

This manufacturing defect feels like it might limit the life on the mousse, it will feel less important after a while..

Desperation is growing.. Who:s idea is this damn thing? It is impossible to get that damn lip over the rim all the way around.
Not to mention actually getting the tire on the rim at the same time 🤬

More of the same basically.

I found this for sale and went and got it. Not the best model I think, the ring is of a fixed size, and should work from 16-21".
I guess it is best for 16"
A lot of sweat and violence later the tire is on.
The thing is the winter season is, I dont know, 2 weeks? To the end of the month?
Then it is time to change tires 😦

I should probably get one of these:

It is about 500 euro 🙄

Had an interesting day with some ice driving on a lake today, the first time for me 😃
It wasnt plowed, and it was about 10-15cm snow. It was fun, but the traction wasnt great.

At the end of the day I tested a lap with my friends bike, what a difference :oop:
1, Very good traction with the same kind of tires I have, but in good condition.
I was a little surprised that the difference was that big, will definitely get new tires for the next winter season..
2, A 250 4stroke is like a lawnmower, it makes noise but nothing happens

I have tried one before a little in the woods and thought it felt rather sluggish, but thought it was because I had too low rpm or something.
This time I really let it rip, it was still sluggish. Would be interesting to try a big 2 stroke instead, it might be more comparable.

My tires:

Ok, maybe not that surprising that the traction isnt great

It was very slippery in the woods yesterday too in the snow. It is really time for new tires 😁
It certainly took its toll on the body to ride two days in a row, it hurts both here and there now..

Somehow I was able to break another one of these switches..

KLMGSvk.jpg

And the oem yamaha kill switch :oop:
I thought these were almost indestructible, and with handguards and everything.

I should have a bike without switches, just a remote control to turn it on and off and a throttle.
It was a long time since I broke a throttle..

What equivalent tire pressure does it feel like?
I cant really say, at least not so far. It feels very hard cold, but is supposed to be softer varm I think. It has been around freezing temp when I have been riding so far, so harder to get up to temp. It is supposed to be equalent to 0,7-0,8bar.

Got my bms:es today:

QMUHggc.jpg

When I ordered I asked for wires for the display. I didnt want to buy with display, as I already have one extra.
The seller then claimed that the new version 32s bms dosent work with display, even if I would order it with display

It looks the same as the old ones to me, except for a new sticker. I guess I will just have to solder on wires or something, to be able to test if it really dosent work.

Hi there, just wondering what rpm you are able to spin this motor at your current 29s I think🤔 voltage.I have the exact same motor(I think it's the older version with the less fancy machining) and ordered a cl1000 vesc that I will be running at 30s voltage.I planning on keeping it super simple with no jack shaft ect and trying to work out my sprocket choice.Im aiming for 60-65pmh max with no field weakening.Mine is purely a Mx build so lots of low down pull from gearing alone and as little phase amps and Fw I can get away with.I know there is the other chaps 250f build but he's only running 24s.Any help from your voltage and rpm findings would be great 👍

My higher rpm settings really need checking. I haven't really logged and gone trough much on the fardriver. The only higher speed check I have done was on the ice when I noticed a vibration at about 105km/h and didnt want to push it to higher speed. It could be the rear wheel, but I think it probably is a settings issue. I think that is just 6-6500rpm maybe?

A hesc cl1000? How much response do you get, do they answer mails etc? I have ordered a cl1400 that should have been sent by now. No answer when I mailed and asked about it..

Yeah I've had one responses buddy👍You are looking at about 3-4 wks before they arrive so I was told.I was hoping for 6500rpm so that's sounds perfect tbh.Geared really high and no fw at 30s should be a great combination. If you do get a chance to do a phone screen record of a run on the second page of the Fardriver app that would be very helpful.Im only wanting short high rpm burst of course being a Mx bike so that will go in my favour also.I was pushing the qs138v3 too 11500 rpm and it was singing beautifully😁

My controller was on pre order until early march. When I made the order I didnt hear anything, when the date passed I wrote a question asking if it would ship soon.
Then I got a reply quick saying it would ship in the last week of march or something like that. When that passed I wrote again asking for a status update but havent got any replay in at least a week.

I understand that things dosent always go as planned, and they may be very busy. But when they set a date and take all the money in advance they should at least make sure to keep the buyers updated.
