Anyone know about/tried TOSEVEN Mid Drive?

An older FS MTB would probably work best for a mid-drive install. You'll need a bottom bracket that is doable, and space for a battery. It helps to be able to build your own custom battery.

I did this one from free parts, Rocky Moutain Elements frame, and put a TSDZB2 in it. Not happy with a 36v TSD, but it taught me something about batteries.

I also did this FS MTB, but it's a hub drive. $50 for the bike:

Fitted my dm02 and so far loving it. Build quality seems extremely solid. Lots of options in the setup in reality too many. Seems powerful and intuitive to use, and has a nice pick up of power. Q factor is a little wide and offset to the drive side a bit, but nothing I mind to much. Anyway very happy with it so far, will be taking it on some single track trails next week to give it a good work out

I want to share my experience with Toseven Dm01. I have a Toseven dm01, it is the best engine I have had in terms of driving experience, unfortunately after 600 km the "motor blocked" message appeared, it is impossible to order parts, I wrote to Toseven, I disassembled the set, checked everything, connected it to another controller and it looks like a problem with the engine, I have practically no service support from Toseven, I have been trying to order parts for about 2 months, but the engine is not available, I have sent 10 e-mails asking them to sell me the parts they have and no response , they sent an email with available parts, I replied giving the address and placing the order, again no contact despite several emails sent regarding the order. Toseven is the best engine until it breaks down. I have now ordered another Tsdz8 and that Dm01 is broken for now with no chance of repair due to lack of parts. Top engine with terrible service support. I am totally disappointed that they could make such a good product and screw up the service so much.

My dm02 experience so far is mixed. Yes there are lots of options to play with in setup and a big plus is you can use a 36 or 48vbattery. Also good clearance between bb and motor housing, better to run cables. Motor is responsive and on par with tsdz02, maybe a bit more power on highest setting.
Two biggest downsides though, it is definitely noisier than my old tsdz02 , almost like internal gears not meshing nicely and also some vibration that can be felt in the pedals when motor is working hard.

Also sometimes a little yellow triangle will flash on the screen amd the motor won't drive for a few seconds

Not sure if I got a bad one, or if this is how it should be for the model

It seems easier to pedal than the tsdz02 when the motor is turned off and build quality seems a lot nicer

However I'm not overly happy with it when compared to the TS , my two biggest issues are the noise and lack of smoothness / vibration from the drive when under load

Also is seems to under read the battery percentage considerably

Anyway hope others who have purchased it are happier with theirs

Did you mean you lose motor assist for a few seconds with the yellow triangle? That's definitely not normal. Did you check the battery and whether it has a solid electrical connection to the motor?

How? All I see is 2 battery voltage options
1) go to battery settings
2) leave cursor/selection at the very top
3) press and hold UP + DOWN on display for few seconds
4) Use these values according to your nominal battery voltage

I now have both motors for myself and my wife, and I’ve put thousands of kilometers on both. I did encounter a small issue after a firmware update, which I believe was a bug, so I reached out to Toseven. They responded quickly and sent me an updated firmware the next day.

I’ve been following the discussions on the Facebook page and other forums, and I’ve noticed that you’ve been posting this same complaint across various platforms, without offering any other insight.

According to official statement from Toseven, the “motor blocked” issue is due to a firmware bug. However, it seems like you jumped to your own conclusions and began disassembling your motor. I’m not sure if you’re trying to promote Tongsheng or if you’ve just made things worse by taking your motor apart. The tsdz8 has pretty bad reputation at the moment, a friend of mine bought one from psw power and it went up in smoke on his first ride. psw power didnt respond at all. online reports seem to be that the TS currently sucks.. maybe they will fix it but given their track record i doubt it

Interesting. How much power did your friend use? Mine won't even get worm.

my experience is exactly the opposite, the contact with toseven is poor, pswpower helped me quickly by offering me a new set at a reduced price instead of repairing the Dm01 (I bought it) but for now I am not installing it on the bike because I am afraid that it will break down again soon (other users and I have written to me in some cases the engine died even after 200 km). Changing the software, even to the one that was supposed to fix it, doesn't help because the problem is with the motor, not the software (I checked and it's not a software problem, I even replaced it with a new controller and it didn't work either, only the vesc controller was able to start the motor at high amperage) . The engine is still not available, contact with Toseven is poor, I waited a month for other available parts that I ordered, and they respond to e-mails with a delay of often more than a week. Dm01 is the best engine I have had in terms of driving experience, but the worst in terms of parts availability, service, and failure rate (previously, apart from the engine lock, the set failed twice while driving due to the software and I had to return without assistance and re-upload the software) , after negative experiences with Dm01, I started to miss Bbshd and 4000km without any failures and it still works.

theres a guy on the discord with 11k km on his dm01, im on about 3k km on the 01 and about 2,5k km on the 02. nothing but a firmware glitch

Should be about the same stuff folks look for with full sus frames and bafang or tongshens. 29" wheels that'll fit 2.8" wide tires. Keep hitting parts of trails that will shake my feet right off the pedals, I'm 43 years old and don't need to be shaking up my joints, and while I'm getting more confident catching air and landing, a little more squish would help me land with more control and confidence. I'm going to try and find something use over the winter that I can hopefully pick up on the cheap that will work.

For posterity, after staring at the triangles and BBs of many, many bikes I've settled on either a Motobecane HAL6 or HAL5.5 by bikes direct through their scratch and dent outlet. I found a post in another thread on here of someone posting their BBSHD build on a HAL6 and the 5.5 is similar enough that I'm confident it will work at least as well with the smaller DM-02. The 5.5 has a 68mm BB vs. the 6's BB92 and the downtube is straight at the BB but it's max width for a 29" wheel is 2.5" and 2.8" on a 27.5. I might end up getting a set of 27.5 wheels I'll use for off-road riding and then mount 29x2.5" Surly extra terrestrials when I want to ride on pavement and gravel.

But it'll wait for spring, it's nearly time for my Surly Pugsley and it's fat tires to shine.

There have apparently been some growing pains, particularly among uses that fiddle with deeper settings not meant to be fiddled with. But I still love both my motors and at least one vendor tells me that the vast majority of their customers do too.

Hello colleagues. Can anyone measure the diameter of the gearbox? To see if it will fit the motor housing on my bike frame. There is a question about the 1000 watt Toseven model
