yea, sadly, flat tires are a big problem with e-bikes. The real answer is to set up your bike to use moped tires. Although, that might end up being your second or third or forth build.
BTW, having a second battery charger at work to top off your bike while you are there will keep you from having any distance problems due to a lack of charge.
