Animalector's Ebike Builds

Whoa there's an atomic frame there in cairns with shock for 250. That's a winner.

Should be a good amount of room.

I hope you guys can excuse the fibre tape. The local electronics shop was all out of banana shaped shrink :)

I used 1.5mm poly all round for a bit of piercing and chafing protection.

Photo shows a bit too much perspective. The base of the battery is inside the perimeter of the outline you sent. Some good room left for padding underneath along the shelf you're dropping into the frame.

Holy crap that looks awesome.
Well done on the battery box.
Would be good to get something soft under the battery to spread the load across the uneven base cells.

Thanks. I am planning to stuff all the gaps around the battery with firm rubber just before I close it up.

Awesome. Running two different densities of foam has proved useful in the past. A softer outer layer helps to take up irregularities if the box isn't square/even.

I have to say this is the best Ebike I have ridden to date. Power is just right for single track, not overpowered, not underpowered, light enough to lift into the car. and OOdles of suspension travel which feels soooo plush. better than my silver / red bike.. amazing. Good Job Chris with the battery box it looks super professional - excellent work. And thanks to Samd for the battery - great job.

all in all - something like this is my next bike whether it has a BBS02 or not... we'll see what's on the market when the time comes.

Lovely. These things are like riding an armchair.

Now that is how a BBS02 build is done!! Great bike selection and excellent work on the battery case.

With the curved bottom tube the motor sits a little lower than ideal. I ran into the same issue with my last BBS build too but must admit, it was rarely an issue. I knocked it a few times on log crossings but was quite surprised how often it did clear even when it looked marginal. I did add a bash plate though a precaution to help the bike skip over the obstacle.

Super jealous of you northern lads riding up around Mareeba/cairns/PD. Is that near the UCI downhill track?
I never had anyone to ride with when I was living there =(

Yes Sean, we are spoiled. I live across the road from the Smithfield mountain bike Park that is behind JCU campus. Kepler, that is a very posh battery box, nice bike frame with lots of space.
