Anyone using BAFANG G062.1000 1000W geared hub motor?

I'm looking to use this in my next build.
It is a torquey geared motor that is rated for 1000W which is a sweet-spot for my needs.

I'm aware of the motor's existence, but have seen no user reports. Wondering if they've gone with steel gears like they did with the mid drives?

Nothing special.....only looking for basic throttle features w/o display. Sinewave not a concern with this build.
At the moment I'm leaning towards getting a 60V 1500W Chinese generic controller.
I've had good luck with these in the past as long as I respect power rating of motor by taking into account rated KV and pack voltage.
Being able to dial-in maximum amp load to motor would be nice though. Does the KT controller offer this capability?

Yup!
I couldn't be without display as that's used to configure the controller, and the PAS software, with what they call "torque simulation" is one of the best anywhere. Bottom line, for what they cost, they give you a lot of flexibility.

Downside, though I believe the newest are good for 52v, if you're going for a lot of voltage, the KT's may not be the best call. Truth be known, with 1000w on tap, you really don't need to over volt something like this.

Understood. Looking for a lighter weight "enduro" frame of some sort with 175mm rear dropout. Posted frame info request in another thread in the Ebike general forum.

I bought a couple of bikes with these motors. I like them, very torquey (but not particularly fast) which is what I was looking for.

It’s on a 20” fat tire bike. The controller is a KT rated for 15A with 30A peak. 48V battery rated for 30A continuous.

I did have a problem with the setup when I took it up a steep hill but I don’t think it’s motor related. The wiring harness melted, but just at the point there the controller hooks to the motor harness. Maybe a bad crimp or maybe the bullet connectors couldn’t take the current. Anyway it melted right at that point and some of the wires shorted. The seller sent a new motor and a new controller but I’m still in the middle of replacing things.

I took the motor apart thinking I would need to upgrade the wiring inside but the wiring in the motor is fine. It was just that one point that melted.

While I was at I decided to add a PhaseRunner, CA3 and a bottom bracket torque sensor. Lotsa wires.




The gears inside are nylon with a metal core.

Yes, Im running Rad Rhino with G062.1000.DC 6 turn version and 60v battery 40A controller. I have vented both side covers for additional cooling and added Mobil SHC100 grease. Topspeed is 40mph. No load speed 49.6 mph, Kv ~8.8xx. 8
I have installed 8 speed trigger shifter with 11-42t and 52t chainring.
Brakes are Magura MT5e with Galfer rotors f223/r203.
I've Been working to being plug n play sine wave 60v 40A z916 (Lcd8h) and 45A L10 (UKC-1) controller kits available and first unit is now tested and factory order is in.

Done with new scratch-build using G062.1000 hub motor
This build turned out FANTASTIC!
It is purpose built for off-road soft&loose Florida sandy terrain and forest roads.
Battery pack is homemade 30AH 12S6P INR21700-50G triangle configuration.
Originally I was going with a 14S5P pack, but since KV was much higher than specs or ordered (I received a 20" motor vs 26" version I ordered) I lowered pack voltage and upped AH.
Top speed is 33.0 MPH. Weighs 64lbs.
Aluminum and carbon frame/fork/bars. 26" fat-tire wheels.
Hydraulic brakes. The cables/hoses/wires mostly route internally to frame.
I did a 30 mile OFF ROAD ride yesterday without issues....got a lot of curious looks of approval from offroaders/ATVers/dirtbikers!
LVC kicked in at 42V, so I left about 50% of my pack's capacity on the table.
I hacked the LVC on my generic 50A controller down to 38V.
I'll put together a build report in another post.

Actually I used a g060.750.dc with fast winding for 20" tires. (but it is not strong enough in my 26" fatbike wheel with 48V batteries)
where i can see the ordering difference between g062.1000.DC standard wind / fast wind?

I use a grin phaserunner Controller with fully opened phase current and limited Battery current to 25A (with 13s Battery). For normal Street cruising this is much more than I need, but for climb up small offroad tracks in mountains with 1000m it is a problem. For this reason my bafang G060.750.dc 6 (fast winding) on a 26 fatbike rim are to fast. :-(

The 26" fatbike tire is more like a 29" tire in outside diameter. Trying to climb hills with that using a small hub motor is not a good idea. You'll be much better of with a Bafang BBSHD mid drive as that will make use of the gears.

Battery is mighty 60v 24Ah 120/400A BMS.

Very nice hill climbing and offroad performance.

Does anyone of you use the G062.1000.DC (6.5) with a Grin Phaserunner controller?

I had so far the G060.750.DC (06) on my Surly Wednesday with the Phaserunner running and the ran relatively quietly and inconspicuously. Grin already offers a suitable preset for the Phaserunner controller with G060 in the phaserunner software suite, which has worked well so far. Actually, one would think that the preset for the G060 should also fit to the G062, the motor data are mostly identical, but now I bought a G062 conversion kit on Ebay with a 1000W Bafang controller, with the Bafang controller runs the G062 slightly quieter, with the Grin Phaserunner I have at full throttle a slightly oscillating noise that swells up and down. Quite annoying and I have no idea what parameters on the Phaserunner I could change to get rid of the oscillating noise ...

The G060 was also quieter in any case, which can of course also be due to resonance noise and the rim.

the rim is nothing special, but otherwise, if you are looking for a plug & play system for the price quite ok.

Compared to my previously installed G060.750, the G062.1000 has the advantage with the cable outlet on the other side and it also seems to be a little stronger on the hill.

Hi senlin. I haven't had any problems at least yet. Just pay attention on how you clean your bike... I realise there is of course some risk involved in venting geared hubs. I have used quite a lot of SHC100 grease on the gears. I'm going to open, clean and regrease the motor in few weeks (after one year usage).
PS. I do some off roading, trails and such. Not terribly dusty ones though.
