Bafang Canable Pro Master - discussion

The recovery voltage value showing, in this case 35000mV is correct, trying to change the number: A popup shows max "255" or lower.
I'm not a code guy so here it ends for me but i guess the settings undervoltage cutoff and recovery voltage that uses i believe 2 bytes there is probably something wrong in the "send" part?
It may be fixed in last commit.

Anyway i can test all i want but that's it, to make changes in the code the skills from mdi-9 are needed and i don't know if he is still here.
I'm here but u have to be very specific if u want for me to do any changes for hardware that i don't have and cannot test.

forget it. I did enough my best to test things and buy stuff to get this program going. Sorry i can not be more specific.

Yes u can, for example by:
- Proviading full console log if there is an error
- Recording CAN communication on READ and on SAVE (without any changes to check if serialization works fine)
- Recording CAN communication for that params in other tool that is working properly like BEST or OpenBafangTool

I thought about OpenBafangTool (the version i have) and Besst, but both will show wrong voltages for Undervoltage under load and Recovery voltage. For Besst, even if i do not change undervoltage and recovery with it, it will change them by itself to the "old style" if i dare to save params 6011. Which i not did because it pré shows what it is intend to save..

Looks like i found the cause why the page with riding params in the DPC010 is gone after trying to change some settings on the controller tab in canable pro. But i will again triple check it first.

Probably Varstrom, greenergy global store and greenergy europe store sells Varstrom stuff. I think change speed with it will not work on older motors. Perhaps that's why they say for BBSxx CAN motors.
Link to file shows file was last changed 16 jul 2025.
Need to pick correct UART port? in PC for the device so it seems not a candlelight device. Did someone here already tried it if it works with other adapters usb to can? OK i saw in the video it's a serial device with CH340 chip. I downloaded it so i can try tomorrow some serial to can adapters.
Looks like in that facebook group they don't know bafang canable pro exist too :)

I tried with a serial can device with Lawicell / SLCAN firmware. It briefly lit up the buttons "read all" and "write all " in that Varstrom program but after a second they are greyed out again. Anyway bafang canable pro is much better :)

I created executable for windows x64....
@mdi, are you aware that your executable for Windows x64 is tagged by Avast antivirus as spyware? This is for v1.5, and it is immediately quarantined by Avast upon download, with the following message:

AvastThreatWarning.png

I would have submitted this as an issue on github, but I couldn't find a way to do so.

Thanks for your work on this project. I plan to try it on my M620 soon, even if I have to run it under Linux.

Avast antivirus
Get yourself a proper antivirus, Avast is a garbage. Marked unfinished download .part as malware...

If u don't believe in .exe files u can always run from source code which is scanned by github.

Last rls (v1.6) with:
  • checksum missmatch detection with fix button (for 6011 and 6012 params) - when controler reject to write some data, a warning should be visible - there will be a button to recalculate checksum
  • canable V2 (STM32G431) support - thanks to new firmware and new easy firmware updater - HUD ECU Hacker

The latest release fixes also the problem that with a DPC010 the "riding parameters" in the display are gone after the controller refuses a changed value. After you make a change and you click sync, if the warning popups you can click the fix button and all is good.

In post 1, below the pictures, for the "do it yourself" among us, if you want to use a canable V2 or V2 PRO with Bafang Canable Pro, i added the steps to update firmware to newest candlelight firmware including CAN FD support using "Hud Ecu Hacker" software and to install the correct winUSB driver (if needed).
For using a canable V2 or V2 PRO with Bafang Canable PRO you need release 1.6 which now have support for canable V2 / V2 PRO.

update firmware to newest candlelight firmware
Is there any advantage in using this firmware on the Canable? Besides speed? I think even the higher speed will be not noticeable when changing parameters. Only the firmware flashing might be a few seconds faster!?

Official firmware is buggy and may have driver issues. That's the main reason of use custom firmware.

For me at least one advantage, in test cases is, you can see the leds when receiving or sending then you know it is not locked, what can happen if you test a lot of controller firmware updates with "bafang canable pro" test versions to get them working.

Also if you are in to Ecu hacking from cars, boats etc. then having CAN FD support in combination with "Hud Ecu Hacker" is another use for the Canable V2 / Pro adapter besides using it with Bafang Canable Pro.
The canable V1 works fine with Bafang Canable Pro so there is not really a need to switch if it only is used for Bafang Canable Pro.

You already know the following link but for others it is worth reading it and then people can decide if they stay with V1 or buy a V2 Pro and do the firmware update for which i will have a video tomorrow for the steps to follow in Hud Ecu Hacker.

I just uploaded the video so for people who have a canable V2 or V2 pro and want to use it with Bafang canable pro or with Hud Ecu Hacker (if you are in to that) you can watch the short video on how to put the new 2.5 Candlelight firmware from ElmüSoft on it.

Today i tested my BBS01B Can Version.

The parameters with a white background on the right can be changed, saved, and read back. Those with a gray background cannot. This means that some parameters can be changed, but not nearly as many as with the UART version. At least you can adjust the speed and current limit. I don't know what the acceleration is all about, as my motor is connected to a laboratory power supply on the kitchen table
