Hey guys

I live in Richmond united kingdom and work near Fenchurch street. Ive done about 700 miles on my bbs02 750w and recently is been making a clicking crunching sound only when I pedal. I have disconnected the chain and pedalled and the noise is still there. From this I assume its the motor? I'm going to tighten all the screws that attach it to the frame this weekend in case its that.

Does anyone know anyone who would service or repairs electric bikes especially bbs02 motors around London? I really don't want to spend the time taking the motor apart. I have seen a few posts where they suggest various fixes so know its repairable.

The only people I could find where nipnip basted near waterloo. I emailed them to confirm a time slot and rode down in my lunch hour. I turned up and the guy said we are having a meeting can I come back in half an hour. I said I came in my lunch at the time you suggested I'd like to leave it with you. He walked me out of the shop and said bring it back another time I can't help you. Basically he organised via email for me to bring it in, then when I arrived to told me politely to F off. Rather not go back there again!

Can anyone suggest a person or shop that would be able to fix the issue? Any help or suggestion would be hugely appreciated!

If it's worse (or only) on the downstroke on one side, it's probbly just the BB bearings.

I don't live over there so dunno anywhere local that could help, but there are probably ES members in your area.

Amberwolf huge thanks for the reply. I think you have hit it on the head, it does only creak on the down pedal.

What do I need to do to the bb to resolve it? Huge thanks and sorry for the noobie questions!

If it's the bearings, then they are probably part of a cartridge type BB shaft. They may be easy to remove off the shaft and replace, or it might require a puller/press to remove/install them, or a DIY version of that.

If you don't know how to remove pedal cranks, or take the BB out of the BB shell on the bike frame, you'll want to read about that sort of thing before you attempt it; most likely you'll need some tools any good bike shop will carry.

There are a number of threads about the BBS02 here on ES that may have installation pics that show you what you'd need to know (as you'd be doign the reverse of the installation procedure).
