Connector type - Similar to Poly Hailong but not it.

I've got a rack mounted 48v battery. The battery/rack was bought from an online retailer called Cap Rouge which is based in Australia. I've got a small 48v - 230v inverter which I've been using to power the fridge during power outages and plan on taking camping. Currently I've just used some spade connectors to plug into the female sockets ofthe battery.

I wanted to make it a bit neater as well as sturdier particularly when bringing it camping in the car and bought a male Poly Hailong connector. Turns out it is not big enough. The total width is too narrow and the blades sit too closely together to fit the battery socket. I opened the battery up hoping to find some information about the connector, but no luck there.

The 4 female sockets seems to be spaced about 10mm apart whereas the Poly Hailong blades are 6-7mm apart. Below are three images. The first two are of the female socket (which also got a 90 degree connector on the battery side) and the last is of the Poly blade that doesn't fit.

Cheers,

TK

Cut the plug into four pieces, Make a little holder/jig so they have the right spacing for your battery and glue them back together with lots of JB-weld (epoxy). ,

Yeah I was considering that but hoping that someone knew what kind of plug it might be so I could just plug and play

Cap Rouge can't tell you, based on the battery model number on the label? They tend to carry extra battery cradles, so may be able to provide one.

In another "what connector" thread, someone posted an image that showed a number molded into the plastic, and searching on that number finds images of various types of blade connectors, sale pages, etc.

Does yours have any numbers on it, on either half of the mating connectors?

Hi Amberwolf and offGridDownUnder,

Unfortunately I can't find anything moulded into the plastic. I may have to contact Cap Rouge as I'll need a ST3 charger plug/adapter as well which seems troublesome to find.

I'm hoping to set it up so I can charge it in the car with an MPPT controller whilst driving and use a buck converter alongside the inverter so both 12v and 230v are available as needed. We've got two of these batteries on our bikes so I rather not splice wires and modify them individually.

Since I've already got the poly connector I may look at modifying that as suggested and save some dollars.

My reading of your original post was that you bought the battery from Cap Rouge. In that case, I'm certain they can identify and probably provide what you need.

You're absolutely correct I did buy the batteries and racks from them a couple of years back or so. I was just hoping someone might have a link to an easy eBay listing or similar rather than emailing back and forward plus paying for postage. I ended up splitting the poly connector I already have and epoxying it back together like docw009 suggested. I'll see how it holds up. I'll probably end up buying a ST3 plug from Cap Rouge later on anyway so I don't have to muck around with the charging ports of the batteries.

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.
