DIY Aptera knockoff?

The Cam-Am uses a Rotax engine, is bigger all around than what the Sunny appears to be, and, costs over 10G's. Imagine shipping that to Costa Rica.

there's also a Chinese Cam-Am...

"Makes me wonder the legal definition of a trike. Is it three tires... or three wheels! What if it is three wheels, and the real wheel was really wide and held 2 tires..."

I suspect the law reads three wheels. Why else would T3 Motion have bothered to attempt to patent the idea?

In Oregon a trike is defined as a motorcycle:

"801.365 “Motorcycle.” “Motorcycle” means any self-propelled vehicle other than a moped or farm tractor that:
(1) Has a seat or saddle for use of the rider;
(2) Is designed to be operated on the ground upon wheels; and
(3) Is designed to travel with not more than three wheels in contact with the ground. [1983 c.338 §63]"

So what is an ATV legally? In EU its a motorcycle... Or cant you register an ATV for road use?

Just got mailed these by the supplier. I'm quite liking it, and at $5000 FOB it's pretty cheap. Very underpowered at 5kW with 72v150AH of lead, but an enertrac motor and 144v90AH headways can fix that. The green model below is newer but has no doors.

in California at least, an ATV is treated like an off-road motorcycle but cannot readily be licensed for on-road use. To be licensed for on-road use there are a number of requirements like DOT rated tires and rims, brake lights, etc that it doesn't meet.

I really like this one! Especially their prototype. Simple bent tube frame and basic body panels. Perfect for a DIY!

Nice find!

FWD ?

What dry weight are we after for 2 people ?

Does dry include batteries ?

How about this, it's got tandem seating but quite tight! Suzuki burgman powered but no reason it couldn't be electric:

£1995 for the frame kit.

I really liked this design, but it seems to have faded into the ether. :(

Yeah that does look good. The best I've seen so far in fact. If the project is dead why don't we revive it?

Quite a simple looking frame. I wonder where he got the steering components. I think HAL could do this really easily, come on HAL here's your next kit to sell!

we are now offering a new Malone pure electric sports trike, the TAZR. The TAZR couples a light weight high power liquid cooled, 3-phase motor with long lasting, high capacity, lithium batteries and a light-weight chassis. The TAZR couples this with a sleek aerodynamic bodyshell. The result is a vehicle with excellent weight distribution and a very low center of gravity. This all combines to offer truly amazing cornering and road holding with the range and performance to make each drive a pleasure.

Some of these posts a terrific - many trikes I've never found on the net before. This is turning out to be a great resource for trike designs!

I've always admired this concept and it's unique method of including passenger space. I may have to play with this idea for an exo-style leaner.

i remember seeing that leaner before,
do you have a link or info on it ?

sitting position like a counterpoint opus tandem bike...

I found it on the maxmatic site. The only thing I've found on it was posted there...

Pictured is a model (a darn good one) of The Zark 1500, the design project of Paul Morrow for his 1996 degree in Transport Design. The fascinating thing about this speeder is it can be a two person vehicle. Click on the picture to see how that works. Paul is working in the transport industry now, and gets to hang around with designers of other famous three-wheeled production vehicles, lucky man. Thanks for sharing this one with all of us, Paul.
