Drew12345 Alpha Flux, Max-E, MXUS 4T

Did a quick 5 min ride to test. And it's fixed! I saw amps up 59 and ah looks correct now. Top speed still same. Contemplating bumping up controller settings. Also contemplating ordering adappto max within a week.

How do you know measure the shunt value? Mine cut out on me early last night too. I should check the voltage next time to see if it is right.

I heAr ya on the weight of these monsters.

On the side of my Lyen controller had the shunt value. I didn't know there was place to enter that in CA until this morning. Glad I got that sorted because don't want to end up with dead battery again. That was painful.

Ah! Got it. I thought you were running Adaptto. Thanks!

No, but just ordered one. He has awesome rate going on. I saw your ordering 14k one. Yours is going to be a serious bike!

Now I'm gettin jealous, so you ordered a max e that's awesome. I just purchased a domino throttle for my flux from ridethelightening. I bet you're glad you have a dérailleur to shift to lower gears when riding on limited power. I fear if the same happened to me I would be pushing home with my 52-12 single speed gearing :?

I'm really glad I had that gearing on there. Even with that, it was almost impossible and better to walk. Any further, I would have just told my wife to pick me up. Can't do that if your in middle of forest though.

Yeah, Alex has great deal going on! Its a good time to buy. I want to take advantage of OVS and better temps and other stuff. I'm not going to use BMS or charging coil for now since my current battery is not setup for it but that's not a big deal for me. When I get a new battery in a year or two, I'll get this stuff. I am bummed that it doesn't support exporting the data so I won't be able to include that stuff in my videos but I think they will be adding that in the future.

I'm researching some stuff now like better soldering equipment. I'm going to switch out my BIG anderson connectors also for the xt150s.

I started reading the adaptto manual. Looks a bit intimidating. Might need some help with it.

So taking a week off riding. I think I pulled a muscle trying to get home on my last ride where I ran out of battery. Getting old.

On another note, I bought another soldering iron. I was going to buy Weller soldering station but after doing a bunch of research on forum, the below was recommended and much cheaper. It's 20w iron with 130w boost option. I'll try it out. I also ordered some extra xt150 and as150 connectors. Those connectors can really add up in cost.

How much does this bike weigh ?

I think that's one of the disadvantages of a high power hub motor bike as you loose the ability to peddle or be a real EBIKE not a electric motorbike with peddles.

Say its 5kw capable and then u need a 5kw capable battery and bike strong enough to handle all that weight. Then if you compare that to say a 2.5kw capable mid drive, with gearing you can get TWICE the torque hence you get similar torque to a 5kw hub motor but with a motor HALF the size and weight and also a battery half the size and weight and also a bike half the strength of with common bike design. Low weight is the key to keeping it a bicycle not a motorcycle, anything more then 25kg makes it very hard to peddle.

How does it peddle compared to your other AFT mid drive bike ?

I totally agree with you. Pros and cons to each setup.

It's almost impossible to peddle without motor. In addition to bike being heavy, there is resistance in the direct drive. I do peddle but more like assistance to the motor and to get a workout.

Also, because of weight, it's harder to maneuver on trail but it's manageable. Still a lot of fun.

The mid drive is much easier but can still be hard to peddle because bike is still heavy because of motor and batteries. But much easier compared to this bike.

I will probably weigh my bike today. I have no clue how heavy it is.

Got my adappto max-e today! It will probably take me a week to install though assuming I don't run into issues. I read the manual already and 100+ page thread but still have questions. Plus need to practice soldering bullet type connectors so I do it right. I will most likely do a video on the just the controller tomorrow.

Thanks Ian. I need it. This will be a little more challenging of install.

Part of me doesn't want to install because I just finished installing everything and running pretty well. Now need to rip it out. But need more speed!

So was doing some practice soldering and noticed I was using lead-free solder which I read sucks. Probably one of reasons my soldering was not great. Will get some better stuff today.

Yeah, replacing the cycle analyst. This is the adappto max-e controller with display. Yes, cost $620 usd including shipping. If I would have gotten charging coil and bms, would be couple hundred more. So it is expensive but should be worth the money.

Looks very cool

Nice setup there... Though there is far too little stripped wire sheathing on your table. It's not a party until you have spare strands of wire sitting on the table and it somehow touches the + and - leads on your battery! Now I better go vacuum my own workbench...

Haha. You should have seen what was to the left. My whole garage is a big mess. This was probably the only clean spot :)
