First and last time i went downhill, was hilarious, for everyone but me.
I've done plenty of cross country, but had never gone downhill before, got to the resort, looked at the bunny hill and watched the kids swerve left/right.. looked easy enough.
I get my skis and head to the hill..
Now, the resort is mid-way down the hill.. so you ski all the way down, take the lift all the way up and away you go..
As i take off, watching carefully for others, this kid jumps in front of me.. and i'm already gathering speed... FAST.... so to avoid him i steer directly down the hill.. bad move... gulp.. WIPEOUT !!!.. lost both skis, poles.. my toque.. ouch..
So.. i get up, gather my parts, thank god for ski brakes ( as shown above ) .. my friend catches up to me and explains the process , wich i quickly learn, and all is good...
Until ! :: I fall a few times, nothing serious, and i'm getting the hang of this, so i decide to just coast to the bottom and get in line at the lift.. well.. lets just say that coast is not the right word for it.
You know those orange, plastic fences ? used to keep pedestrians in line.. well.. a 180 lbs man.. out of control, screaming from the top of his lungs " GET OUT OUT OF THE WAY !!!! " sliding on his back.. will go right thru those !!!
