LiFePO4 Battery Showdown!

I thought it a brit term cuz the only previous example I've heard of that comes close is from LED ZEP... ' bee buzzle in your hedge row, because you don't know' ???

If you play it backwards it's supposed to mean something, so perhaps the same thing applies? :)

El zzub eeb?

Got it! It's an anagram of Beelzebub, sort of...
What have we stumbled on now

I get something a little different.
Phonetically,

"Wonk tnod uoy esuaceb wor egdeh ruoy ni elzzub eeb"

seems to translate into:

One kid OD'd on soy sauce, wore edgy. Are you we? Kneel, you dweeb!

:)

It's just a "buzzing" sound to alert the user that the Charger needs to be turned OFF! For those using a dumb charger.

I hope everyone is safe there in South Cal. the fire is unbelievable.

Ride safe

Ditto. Best steer clear of that raging inferno.

yeah it sure sucks over here right now, i can't go riding without inhaling whole bunch of ash into my lungs. Plus there is a new fire that broke about twenty miles away. Cant wait for the wind to ease up and get some on shore flow.

I have friends in CA and used to live there so my sympathies go out!

Back to Batteries, attached is an announcement of LiFeBATT's SOFTPAK program. While it may not be something that you are interested in - we like to keep everyone informed.

Cheers!

Most won't be using a Speed Charger - this is only for commercial applications. Regular Chargers are fine for most folks :D

I live about 5 miles south of the fire in Orange Conty. We're fine, but we have about an inch of soot everywhere. The air is bad. The sky looks like an apocolyptic scene out of a bad sci-fi movie. :) Anyway, the Sata Ana winds have finally died down and today they were able to bring in the helicopters and the tanker planes. Hopefully, the will get this under control within a couple more days.

San Diego is much worse. There have been 800,000 people that have been evacuated, including my sister and bother-in-law. There house was saved (all their landscaping burned, as did their neighbors...) but they can't get back in just yet.

Anyway, what really ticks me off is trying to ride in this stuff is out of the question. I've got my controller back from having Bob Mcree do his 4110 magic on, and I haven't been able to test it yet. I also have a new HV version of EagleTree Systems' MicroLogger I want to try, but that's on the back "burner" as well.

Getting back to the VMS, if you use a charger with a CC/CV charging profile, why do you need a buzzer? Will the VMS doing cell balancing for the 4-cells?

Hmmm 2 of those packs would be perfect for my setup. 48v 20ah.

That VMS will come in handy for my PSU if I get distracted doing something else, it'll start beeping reminding me turn the charger off. Nice. Hope it balances cells too.

Thanks for keeping up up to date Don. Looking forward to more information on the VMS and charger.

In the meantime, can you tell me the size of the thread on the battery terminals?

Cheers

What really ticks me off is that at least some of the fires were likely set intentionally. Arson under such conditions, like blowing a dam or levy, is, I fear, going to become a widespread method of spreading terror and reaping destruction.

Just a friendly heads-up...

...we are dedigning a Speed Charger...

You may want to run the poster through spell check one more time before widely distributing. An error in your ad copy is a simple way to suggest to potential customers that you aren't professional.

Not bad for just one eye...

I was just noticing in another post that you correctly spelled "pedalling"... a rare occurance in these parts.

My spelling is not all that good, and my grammar abilities trend towards atrocious. My wife is the keen eyed editor. She would brutalize anything I wrote for school. It looked a lot better when she was done with it.

I'm sure I misspell pedalling as many times as I spell it correctly. :D

Normally I try not to comment on spelling errors (glass house/thrown rocks), but in this case it looked like ad-copy to publicize the company; I thought a heads-up was appropriate.

That's because pedaling is spelled correctly either way. My dictionary shows two L's is the British form. And you misspelled "occurrence".

Did I mention I usually don't comment on spelling? Once again, the only reason for the comment is the picture posted looks like it was intended for wide distribution. I'd certainly appreciate comments on spelling and grammar if I were about to publish something to the world.

People in glass houses....
Me neither. I figure such commentary is (except in cases like you've cited where it's being done in higher service) risky and patronizing -- especially since the English language is terribly illogical as far as grammar and spelling. I have to regularly consult the dictionary, and my grammar generally stinks anyways.

Thanks One Eye - I did that very late very quickly and forgot to proof it. It was just done for this post and not a printed piece, but nonetheless is not professional to have a spelling error.

Thanks for pointing it out! Here is corrected piece.

Cheers!

Don

I resemble that remark, American is almost as bad.
Besides, what do you expect – it was a rush job. We had to cobble it together in just a few centuries from Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Norse, Latin and Greek. Sheesh, there's no pleasing some people.
