Luke's commuter bicycle. What Non-hub is all about.

Wow, one helluva bike! Good job brother! 8)

You remember what wall thickness was used on the front triangle? Rear section?

I think i used 0.045" wall if i remember.

It rips really really hard. Pulling dead even with the gsxr with my 220lbs body on the bicycle and Ryans 160lbs body on the gsxr.

.049 is common, maybe that?

Awesome to hear how rigid the frame is, considering the power going through it and the lack of tube. It really shows how light a bike could be constructed and still be safe!

Any machine that I have to make peace with the world before riding goes in my safe-ish catagory rather than my safe catagory. ;)

It is what I wanted it to be. An electric vehicle that disappoints no soul brave or foolish enough to throw a leg over her.

So Luke, tell me, are you losing any interest in the internal combustion engine by now?

LOL I lost mine when I built my bmx! It was a game changer for the rest of my life! Now my friends and family are sick of hearing about electric stuff so I need to produce something huge!!!

Hey Luke, you have inspired me to build something similar to this as it is frickn' awesome.

I was wondering if you could answer these questions; I would appreciate it, thanks.

Do you have some form of traction control on this bike?

If so, is that what the middle gear is for on the chain?

I lost mine the second i got my first 250w kit up and running.. then 500w.. then 2000w.. now 4000w
It is not practical, it is not cheap, and it doesn't go far, but i can't stop upgrading/building/tinkering.. :)

It's cool to have people like Luke, with gas-powered racing behind them, edge towards the dark side. But i suspect he's still clutching to his pistons even after experiencing the kind of EV grin few, if any of us will ever experience.

After my first Ebike with 80A 72v I sold my 500cc Motorscooter, ofcourse this scooter is much faster, but the Ebike is giving me much more sensation and fun.
I only ride short distance, max 30km.

If this Luke-bike can be build to a good handling, stealthy pedelec bicycle then you have best of both worlds, pedal around some shopping malls waiting for some victims, fast cars and motorcycles and beat them all at the traffic lights

Let's wait for a good video and he will inspire many more guys :D :D

WRT to the tires. There are 22" moped tires on the market that should have an OD near that of 24" hookworms. You might have to find appropriate rims on ebay though.
Usually mopeds use motorcycle sizes and 18" moped is about 23" bicycle.

Moped tires that fit a 17" moped rim are about 22-24" in diameter.
My 2.25-17 moped tire is exactly 21 3/4" inflated :D

Edit: As I purchased it, there was low profile one in the shop, it was from 1 to 1 1/2" lower diameter and double price.

Looks like chain tensioner.
Yes. See "ghost sprocket".

Enjoy.

F'ing beautiful stuff Luke. Don't you just love that they have to shift? My bikes aren't half of yours, so I have to be quite a bit more selective in my hunting, but even when I bite off a bit more than I can chew, I nudge ahead on their shift to 2nd and the torque reduction that comes with it. Our ebikes are just a smoothly increasing pull off the line till we max out.

Can't wait to see how you're going to outdo yourself next.

Wow, impressive. My CBR954 would at least be comparable to your GSXR, and I had to fight a wheelie all the way over 100mph even sitting on the tank, so if that guy was riding your bike to its fullest, the bike is STUPID fast!! Nice job!

Luke, That's damn AWESOME fast and quick acceleration. Congrats!

Excellent!
I think you need to give them a head start, then pass them to get the full effect.
Not needing to shift is an obvious advantage.

When do I get to try it out?

that's crazy - beyond officialy insaine
Luke, how did you do that? did you been cheating? : ))))
