Awesum !

Thanks Luke!

Haha this looks like fun ;) however the gazzers riders seemed to struggle to make a good startup? They all had a 1,5sec delay before they started reeving up their dinausaurs! Still really impressing!

Its hard to get a good video and its hard to get people to ride their bikes to their potential for the video. But non the less it shows how fast lukes bike is and there will not be many bikes on the road faster and even less cars on the road faster then this "bicycle"! Very cool. Now I have to ride it. Or build one better.

not all - looks like only in one case sz1000cc had delay - and they did several takes; and true, they wasn't revving and go too crazy; sz began to show advantage after 60-80 mph, smaller bikes didn't had a chance to show any
poor neighbours - cops always late too (but they might get lucky once)

that looks SO fun!!

You must be proud man - really pushing the boundaries. Imagine how many EV enthusiasts will show this video to their friends to convince them that electric can be FAST as well as green.

Best youtube comment so far:

"You should make a decent living taunting macho motorcyclists into betting large sums of $."

High 5.

I guess now I have to retract my statement in the video (around 30-31 min in?) from yesterday's mini-meetup ride:
http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=514335#p514335
(YT is still uploading the vid itself but it'll be there or in a subsequent post within a few hours, hopefully). :)

The other one was still uplaoding, sorry. YT took FOREVER and timed out a bunch of times. It's up now, though, and it's actually at 25:50 in.

I submitted the video to the motorcycle subreddit http://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/o93z2/you_wanna_race_my_bicycle_my_friend_beating_sport/

Looks like it gave some gas bikers some insecurity issues...

sure, they not secure - they say - it wasn't fair - Luke been cheating, if he wasn't pedaling, 1000cc 160+ hp superbike would have a chance, plus - Luke could start to pedaling in front of cop, and motorcyclist is the one who would get chased and caught.....

well, they admitted - in the average street racing, superbikes - no match for commuter e.bicycle made for city speeds 60-80max just to keep with traffic
there is no need for 80+ on commuter bicycle (hell, i'm not pushing much my old car >80 even on interstate)

Few of them didn't get it so far, others already realized what is coming. I wonder if 1 of those excuse finding "good of line starters" will risk his "honor" and race against this or other scary looking bicycle. A lot to lose after laud words. :D

on serious note - to have better idea how it's possible (1L 160+hp vs 1 Luke) - what size, weight, gearing - mom.of inertia of flywheel and clutch (mass equivalent or rotating parts) on honda and sz on the video?

Don't you know? the only reason luke won was because those gas bikers didn't know how to launch

they also "didn't know how to ride, how to stop, didn't expected that, been surprised, confused, and unexperienced, and 17-year old"...
lol

As much as I want to believe the bike can beat literbikes, I have to say I think I could rip it a new one with my old 954. I mean I could hit 60the in first gear! It just seemed like theyvwere going easy. I know my bike was almost impossible to keep the wheel down when I was really on it and I didn't see a single wheelie from the sport bikes..

I owned a R6, a GSX-R 750, a Honda 954, and my current built GSX-R 1000, which is MASSIVELY faster than my previous sportbikes (and has smoked every other liter bike I've ever raced with it).

This bike is fast. When we do roll-on's against the GSX-R 1000 from about 30mph with the GSX-R in 2nd, the bicycle just explodes ahead of the GSX-R until the bicycle runs out of gear.

From a roll-on with the GSX-R in 1st gear with the front tire of the GSX-R just skimming the ground, they pull dead-even, and it just depends on who got the better start to determine who wins.

In the case of the bicycle though, it's almost effortless to get a perfect start everytime, where the motorcycles tend to struggle to really launch effectively, which requires reving the engine way up, and slipping the clutch hard, but not TOO hard or you flip on your back in the blink of an eye. lol

I have one fireblade to and will not be surprised if it can beat Lukes bike under certain condition. Important think is: The glory and pride of gas powered super bikes is OVER! This is just the beginning. :D

Luke I love your insane ebike!

Another Luke Bike Vid?

Ok Luke you got me convinced! So how much power DOES it put down then?? ;)

I LOVE IT!! however inconsequential we tend to see the present value, it is the sum of the parts (like this) that leads to a monumental shift in paradigm. e-bikes are at the leading edge--the subtle force that produces inevitable change. once it goes viral, this video will be a real eye-opener.

btw, great job keeping the front end down. i'm curious, what is the wheelbase (bb to rear axle)?

Awesome work here Luke! I've heard of the EV grin and have experienced it often, but this is a whole new level. lol
I will call it: "EV Euphoria" :)

Wiki says: "Euphoria is generally considered to be an exaggerated physical and psychological state, sometimes induced by the use of psychoactive drugs and not typically achieved during the normal course of human experience. However, some natural behaviors, such as activities resulting in orgasm, love or the triumph of an athlete, can induce brief states of euphoria."

Hence...... EV Euphoria! :)

I've got the bug and the 30mph club I've achieved just isn't good enough anymore. lol
At this time, I don't believe that 60-100mph will be my goal, but somewhere between 40-50mph sounds reasonable.
If I choose to make a EV Moto, then 60+ mph will most certainly be my goal.

It is people like you and the others here on the ES that makes me bring dreams to life. Bravo! ES'ers..... Bravo!
