As the Hub Motor Turns and the Lipo Fire Burns. Ongoing projects!!!
Not sure how they hook up but I have seen chrome chopper forks on a 20" bike and they look fantastic.
I also am not sure if it would be possible to mount the hub motor on the forks. It might have to be a rear hub motor.
The only thing I do know however is I really want awesome chrome chopper forks on the blue Diamond back.
Another thing I do know is I am glad DA is ok and survived his ordeal. This forum would suffer greatly without DA. His advice and knowledge is not replaceable. I am sure he will be busy with his store and going to see his friend in the hospital. I hope the guy heals up.
Today i am doing three things.
1.) installing the spoke sprocket and getting the wheel ready.
2.) testing out the red bike the way it is since i worked on it yesterday. Maybe a short video if it rides good.
3.) balance charging the new lipo packs until they reach full. That may be done before the test ride.
from page 123.
If you blow a fuse, it means you did something wrong. So don't replace fuse and repeat exact same mistake? (Good news is ... fuses prevented 2 possibly catastrophic failures ...)
6" long bolts are not necessary to hold 1.5" item. Sharpen them ... if designed for chasing down pedestrians?
the other thing I may do if I get all that done is a small front basket for the front of the red bike. I would like to have it for the new lipo packs and run them exclusively. Not only will it eliminate running wires to the back rack for SLAs but I can have a cargo basket back there instead.
I hooked the harness up wrong. reverse polarity has blown three fuses. The Lipos wont as there will only be one way to plug them in. If I do run SLA again I will need to wrap black tape around the negative wire harness and red tape around positive.
As far as the bolts sticking out they will be cut shorter and at lease two of them will be used to support the front basket. I have been looking for the right size. It needs to be small and factory looking. Just big enough to hold the Lipos and would like to hide most of the motor too if possible by attaching something to the bottom of it.
Advanced auto has the exact fuse I need and looks just like the four pack I ordered however at over $4 a pop i need to stop hooking shit up wrong. I picked one up yesterday.
Also i will need to call the bike shop to see if the chain is there. I have much to do today. I also think I may have tightened down the circle thing on the goose neck with vice grips last night. I am happy I solved the mystery as to why it was so difficult to line up the sprockets. It was NOT my bizarre or unorthodox mounting method but the bike itself.
I have a lot to do today and am happy to be alive. (especially after the amount of beer i drank last night)
Every day you wake up and don't get hit by a stray bullet is a good day. I need to finish my coffee and get going. Thanks.
I have not got much done today however the Lipo pack is back on the charger until it reaches full. I want to get them both ready. I will probably wait until tomorrow to try out the red bike. The #415 chain is in but they closed at 6 PM and it was after 5PM when I called so I can pick it up tomorrow.
Other good news today is the ol ladies getting her check next month but it may be a few days late. Also the landlady wanted me to call her and I thought it was over the noise of working on my bike and the downstairs people said something but it was she wants me to put a fence up in the back yard that was taken down when she cut down all the trees. I will look for my friend Mike to see if he wants to help and give her a fair price.
I am happy as now I can build the Diamond Back next month and maybe even order that chrome low rider.
I sent Doug the link on face book and he said it is not a heavy duty bike and wont work for a hub motor as it would look dumb. Also a spoke kit obviously would not work. However a friction drive will work. Please post guys and let me know what you think. It looks like multiple projects for next month. A friction drive would work but I would need to remove the chrome fenders as one fender may not look good. I wonder if they would work on the Diamond Back. It would look really good with the chopper forks on it. A real show bike. Thanks. Post when you can.
I really wish I had an exact link for the parts in the picture of the friction drive. Landlady just called me. She did mention noise and I talked to her and am in agreement with her that a shed in the back yard can happen this summer. The pack is up to 4.2V per cell and at 0A. I am waiting for it to beep full so I can go to Wall Mart and look for a basket for Lipo and get my exercise. I try to walk about three miles a day for my heart. If I get a shed I want to know how to make it secure so it dont get broken into. An alarm that goes off upstairs and a battery operated floodlight system on the top of the shed to stop anyone from breaking into it. I will be able to keep all my big 26" bikes in there if it is safe. Please let me know about that also. Thanks.
LC. out.
