It's been suggested that I post my stolen ebike report here -- in the
hopes that when more cyclists know which bikes are stolen will make it
difficult for the thieves to benefit.

So, I'd appreciate it if any of you keep a look-out for my bike. It was
stolen from my garage in Bells Corners, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
over the weekend of the 24th.

It's a unusual bike, i think.

It's a black, long-wheelbase recumbent. (Looks like a low lawn chair
with pedals and a 20" wheel way up front.)

I feel the need to describe it in excruciating detail:

It's made from square-section black-anodized aluminum tubing -- not
painted. The brand is "infinity". The front 20" wheel has an BL-36
motor. The handlebar is under the seat and controls the front fork
with two aircraft cables pulled tight with turnbuckles. There is a
"Watts UP" energy meter velcroed to the motor control box which
itself is cable tied to the top tube. The rear carrier has a heavy
lead-acid battery and panniers. The brakes are side-pull rim brakes.
The front derailleur is campy but the rear is a Suntour Superbe. The
crankset is Sugino AT and is half-step plus granny configuration.
The rear 27" wheel (1 inch rim) has red fiberglass wheel fairing
(or spoke cover). The plastic seat mesh/fabric has a hole or slit worn
in the center where the rear tire has rubbed (my back escaped damage).
(Infinity went out of business a long time ago so it's very likely the seat
mesh has not been replaced.) There is a 6" scratch in the anodizing
on the top tube near the headset.

Whoever stole it does not have the little key to turn off the motor
controller (like a tiny ignition key).

This is an old bike, dusty, weird bike. But i'd like it back.

Besides, stealing a bike is *low*.

Thanks your patience.

Sorry for your loss, but honestly not too many thieves are going to announce on a forum they have a stolen bike, and I doubt very serious they would even be on a forum like this. But I feel your pain and it certainly doesn't hurt to get the word out about it.

Bikes are usually stolen to be resold so keep an eye on craigs list, ebay, and your local pawn shops.

He's not on here looking for the thieves, lol - he is asking us all to keep an eye out for it.

Post some pics if you have some, will be more helpful than a description for many.

i'll keep an eye out, but i'm downtown.
