Trail cam to catch dog walkers

Gruesome, do you also have a cam V4? I've been testing mine the past 2 days (mounted 2 inches away from the cam pan V3).

Some observations:
- The V4's higher resolution gives a sharper image, better color too. Especially noticeable on a 27" iMac running Wyze Web Live.
- Another difference is V4's event playback on Wyze Web Live has sound, where cam pan V3's event playback has no sound. On the phone with cam pan V3 (and V4), there is sound on event playback.
- Notification delay is about the same between the V4 and cam pan v3, anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds depending.
- In addition to the higher resolution, a big advantage with V4 over cam pan V3 is it's earlier detection time. Let's say a dog walker event was captured by both V4 and cam pan V3. On V4's event playback, the dog and its walker starts from the edge of the frame. On the cam pan V3, dog and walker starts in the middle of the frame. Based on this alone, I am thinking of returning the cam pan V3 and replace it with another V4 (for the back of the house).

No, I do not have a Wyze cam v4.
Sound should be selectable for each camera, and there is a default setting you pick for each camera.

If you are not using the motor rotation (pan) feature of the pan cam, then indeed the Wyze cam v4 might be better for you.

I've been using the Chrome browser. On cam V4, events audio playback fine. On cam pan V3, there's an "x" next to speaker icon. Clicking on icon gets "audio from this device is not yet supported on the browser. This is coming soon!"

Just tried Safari, events audio on cam pan V3 playback just fine. Go figure.

I returned the Wyze cam pan V3 due to constant false triggers when the wind blows on tree branches and the cam tracks it. With the wyze cam V4, I blocked out the trees in detection zone and trigger the event recording on people and pets only and it's been working fine for some days until yesterday. Now I am getting false motion triggering almost every minute when there is no motion! Gruesome, do you know if AI smart detection is done on their cloud servers? Are you having any problems with your various cams?

Currently, all my cameras seem to be working fine, and since I took the flag down after the 4th, I reenabled motion tracking. I looked earlier today, the pan cam seems to be triggering correctly on cars driving by, and also about as often on shadows or imaginary objects.
I'm not really using the smart detection (as in, it's enabled, but I haven't looked at any recording for quite a while), but I know there was a skunk visiting a few nights ago. Let me check whether the motion detection picked that up correctly.
Update: Can't find the skunk, but here is a cat intruder, caught while leaving (can't post the video, so just a screen snapshot - maybe not the best example, because the motion detector light caught it first, and the camera triggered on the light):Screenshot_20240721-162855.png

Any deterrent effect? How’s the poo situation?
Seems to be helping after installing the cam and the "under 24 hour video surveillance" sign. I have on video a little after midnight a kid who let his dog poop on the grass, come back 15 min later with a bag to pick it up, turned his head to look at the cam before walking off. Have not seem him again. It seems there are less dog walkers after a few days of installing the cam and sign. I also dribbled vinegar along the sidewalk. After that, most dogs do not stop and just walk on by. Vinegar does work as a dog repellant.
