How much does it cool down at night?

Probably be in the electro bikes best interest to throw some chemical hand warmers in with the battery packs to get a good Ri drop....

wish I saved some money to go....... my bikes not too fast right now, but I got a head way pack coming I could use a few cells from to boost the ping up to 90v..... hell of sag though.....

Damn I want to go! Maybe I'll sell the headway pack for funds

I think it will give the guys with a lot of track time the advantage at nite, but it will also be cooler for us wearing plenty of safety equipment.

Is anybody staying for the next day? I think it would be cool to charge overnight and cruise down for breakfast and swapmeet the next day.

I am in town till monday morning E-tard....not that any of my bikes would look leagle riding around town.....

I need to re-package my equipment & drop it at a fed-x shippnig point some where sunday some time....Howard Johnsons is the E-bikers unoficial camp site.

As for cooling track conditions....it plays to my advantage :p ....if we are any where near a dew point & some real slippery stuff.....all the better, it plays into my off road skill set much better...if it was a mud race...I would start betting money LOL!

I will also be at Hojos sat night. Breakfast at Hojo's followed by the GABA swap for sure. I plan on parading the bike there, but may not ride there all the way after all, depending on how the route looks. Having the car handy will work best for loading up on stuff.

As for the bike looking legal, seen pics of my battery rack? It's an attention getter. Makes Mel Gibson start asking cut the blue wire or the red? Hopefully cops won't call the squad.

I kinda like the idea of an evening race, especially if the afternoon is a bad day, with 50 mph wind. Cool means it should be less than 90F. Much nicer for my armored riding jacket, and I can maybe wear double pants. Now I may have to go get some led rope lights for the bike.

psych up video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNYQekHlp_I&feature=autoplay&list=UL-Wttm5T37R8&index=5&playnext=1 look at his other posts too.

I appreciate the thought of passing the hat for the dogsitter, but it hopefully won't be needed. Fortunately the dog issues I have arent' with people, just with each other, so nobody would get attacked (maybe hurt trying to separate them like I have been, but that's my own fault).

I've been pondering the problem of the dogs, and some solutions. If whoever I am riding down there with (still havne't set this up) heads out of here past midday, then as long as I can be back by Sunday afternoon (the earlier the better) then I could do the late race (which I assume would mean staying overnite). Plus I coudl do the GABA s/m, which would be really cool, even if I can't buy anything (or much, at least).

For the overnite part, I might have to borrow a piece of floor or a car's backseat from someone, as I know I can't chip in much (if anything) for a hotel room.

One thing at least that I won't have to worry about by then is my crazy sister, as I finally had enough and had to ask her to leave permanently (and I'll be changing the locks ASAP, too). I feel awful about it, but I cant' take anymore of the stuff she does, and the worry it causes me every time I have to leave the house for any length of time.

Anyway, assuming head-out and come-back times are within a day, I can deal with the dog issues.

Hope you can make it. I want to see that watermellon eating grin on your face again.

Nother good vid, shows how hard passing can be when you don't have the E advantage we'll have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJtnFIFofXk

Hey Amberwolf,

I have a whole baggie full of extraneous FW's, a new CA with some wires cut, ect. . . Save me from mailing you a box and let's meet at DR! (Will)
Really, look forward to meeting and exchanging e-bike building adventures with you again.

Has anyone considered that as sunny spring time settles upon the desert, warm days full of sunshine and refreshing evenings, that snakes, including those Rattlers, enjoy the asphalt after the sun sets :?: Great place to stay warm and hunt. Gives a whole new meaning to the name "Death Race  "

In general snakes don't like constant noise and vibration, so they'll likely head away from the track, despite the warmth. It won't sound like prey, and typically in nature, if it doesn't sound good, it's bad. ;)

At this point the only thing that might stop me going down there is transportation/timing. I am not sure who is actually going from Phoenix besides me. At least one person on MB forum wants to, but he also needs transport. Evoforce and co. is who I went with last time, but I am not sure if they are going again.

I have a couple of non-ebike friends that are slightly interested, but almost certainly not enough to actually drive all the way down there and spend for a hotel for the night before coming back. When it was a day-trip kinda thing it was still a possibility for them.

A thread just to work out:
Where are we all staying?
Where are we coming from?
and
How are we all getting there?

What did you do to your Lipo? 'saw a thread about your balance readings but can't find my way back to it...

The BMC I have is geared for speed, but still is faster all around than the 9c. 30ish on 12s lipo would be fun . I know I am not going to win with that anyway with not much riding experience and all. I would be happy to just beat a few gassers so they can go cool 8) 8) 8)

AlanB pretty much diagnosed it right on. :( So now i have to remove the bad cell from 4 different packs and use them as 5s or add a cell to 3 others? No time to do that yet been busy building my garage aka mancave and now I have to install laminate floor for the misses.
:( :(

Dogman I can use the cruiser with my ping pack in a back pack and run 84 volts of ping pack and you can use the rest of my lipo to finish off the stinkies! :D :D

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to mail my bike to Dogman's place and fly in to Tucson, or drive the 14hrs from the SF-bay area.

If I go the driving route, does anyone want to carpool from the SF-Bay area by chance? My Insight can only hold about 2 bikes if we keep the rear hatch open, and myself and a single passenger. If somebody else has a better bike/human carrier vehicle choice, I will gladly pay fuel for the drive.

I got plenty of lipo for my needs. 10 ah of it for the heat, and a seperate 15 ah pack for the main. Plenty of room to carry bikes on my subaru if you ship one to me LFP.

I guess I'll do the lipo booster thing with yours and slap the ping in my backpack so it will have more stability.
8) 8)
LFP you could ship it to my business address if it saves you postage as Dogman is probably going to pick me up anyways. Just offering.... :D

Getting kinda whacky with conversation going on half in pms, and half in the open. I have 10 ah of 4s lipo I won't be using. Maybe if you can repair your lipo packs, we have enough to run 20s 10 ah on my beach cruiser? Which 9c motor do you have wineboy? frontie or back?

Your 40 amp lyens controller on my rear BMC would probably be a great combination. I would only need 12-17s lipo for it....?
Need to give it a try though.....see if it works...?

??

9c DD front, minimotor front. I have 6s 20ah lipo plus 5s 8.8ah zippy's lipo plus 36v ping. Yeah, a lot of people on right now.
I could use the 6s for 12s 10ah plus the ping....?
I really want to use the minmotor though it accelerates fast. might not last, but it's all for fun for me anyways....

If you drive, would you be passing thru Phoenix?

I'm kidding, because neither CrazyBike2 nor whatever I'm gonna call the new one would fit on or in an Insight. :p Assuming we could lift it in the first place. DayGlo Avenger might, but I couldn't race on it (I'd kill myself!).

Although it might still be fun to meet up before the race, depending on when you'd be passing thru.

BTW, for all of us discussing the where/when/how of getting there, I made a thread in Events for that, if anyone wants to use it to figure out carpools or hotel spaces, etc.

So far nobody's used it.

I'm still working hard to find time to work on the race bike. I do have a borrowed trailer to get our bikes there Amberwolf. Where is everyone going to stay? Got to get a ground floor room.

Thud and I will be at Howard Johnsons.

I am seriously considering trying to make the race. It's a long way from Oregon, so if there is indeed a car pool from the bay area, I would try to get in on that. I also drive an Insight, so I can't offer a better vehicle.
If I fly, the logistics of getting my bike and batteries to Tucson is a bit of a hurdle. Anyone in Tucson want to receive my batteries so I can pick them up there?

This all might be a pipe dream since I have to iron out a bunch of issues with my bike...

Too funny, the logistical complexities of getting the worlds most efficient form of transportation to a race to beat the dirtiest polluters on two wheels. Awesomeness! 8) Everybody drives small little cars besides me and I'm not trying to drive there cuz the gas would kill it for me. Hey, why don't we all share a room too, I call the bathtub.
