I have acquired a couple of old jump bikes headed for recycling and wanted to know if there is a suggestion for a new controller to swap out to use? I'm going to build a cargo bike from it. 350 w 36v motor.

I usually use a KT (Kunteng) 22 amp controller with a KT LCD4 display. I wouldn't use any more amps than that (but if you use a KT controller and display, you can turn down the max amps in several steps to as low as 50%).

I use LCD3 display for folks who need larger readouts. I use a generic controller without display for a cheaper and simpler setup (though this usually requires a breakout cable for the 9 pin motor plug).

All the controllers I use with these motors can take 36 or 48 volts. I mostly use 48V batteries.

Are you planning on having pedal assist, throttle, or both?

I've used this controller for a lot of my ebikes. It's a dual voltage 20A KT sine wave controller. It will run default with one PAS level and throttle, if you use a shorting plug in place of a KT display. Just bought one last week. Should arrive in a week or two, as I got it in before the Chinese New Years shutdown, About $32 shipped.

I've mostly used KT LCD3 displays. The LCD1 saves you money but loses the volts/watts info, and the dubious ambient temperature, but I like that info.

They have a 25A controller, that comes in both a 6MOSFT in a slightly larger box, and a 9 MOSFET in a noticeably larger box if you favor more torque. I bought two jump motors. Installed one, and it runs OK on 36V and 20A. Runs better on 48V as it gives me a better pedal cadence.

This was my first build, I was a complete noob on the plugs and controller etc.
I bought mine off PSW, the shipping was bit high but they were prompt.
If you can wait, aliexpress seller below is bit cheaper and have more options.

If you pick the waterproof plugs option for controller and display, it makes for a cleaner build.

Pls post pics, I bought the little eggrider style display and a controller for a stealth build :)

[edit]
I posted the same link 2x by mistake,

here they have the combo with all you need, make sure you get brake leaver and throttle to match the connectors.

here is what I bought, I have brake levers already and I avoid PAS.

Thanks Amberwolf

Op,

The connectors were the most confusing part of getting my dad brain to make sense ....

Grin's page was awesome:

I also picked up a motor extension and 4in1 cable.
