new tsdz8 pswpower

Does anyone know who I should ask about making the throttle variable speed work better? It seems it's on or off with no real variable speedness.

Hi jped, I am in the same situation, apparently the new OSF fix this but I have not tested yet.
Please note that currently, the OSF TSDZ8 version is still in a beta phase. Every thing is not (yet) perfect. There are already 2 testers. Perhaps best to wait a little and to look at the specific TSDZ8 OSF thread to see issues/progress

Hi @mstrens soon I will be also a tester, but I'm still waiting for the cable.
I have a suggestion for the new thread you opened. If it’s possible, put in your first post or header or signature, links to the OSF download and also for documentations. It will be very helpful for the new users. Hugely thanks again for your great work!

I already have set a link to the github project in my signature. Is this not enough?

I tested with ekd01 but unfortunately for now osf does not work as well as the original software/ or osf tsdz2, it is still in the testing phase
I tested also (and my wife uses it for work daily drive now), but on tsdz2b. Works pretty nice, especially under the limited ekd01.

Hey guys, is there any way to make the throttle on my tsdz8 more sensitive? It seems like it's all or nothing and it should be variable speed. How would you attempt to change that? I would like to be able to push the throttle just a small amount and the bike go slower than full speed
Just chipping in with a confirmation of bad throttle response same as you, for the benefit of other readers of this thread. I tested my TSDZ8 build yesterday and found the same. I haven't modded firmware on my three previous (TSDZ2) builds as I'm not an early adopter;)

With my mobile phone it isn't visible in the portrait view, you have to turn the phone to landscape view, then it is visible.... ;)

Have you looked at the BEMF waveform with your scope meanwhile?

How did you the FOC with Park and Clarke? Are there ready to use libraries in the IDE?

Does anyone have some comparison to toseven DM02 motor? What is the current state regarding firmware, build quality, availability etc? No one around with DM02 and I need to build another bike to help pull the child trailer.

I have not looked at the BEFM waveform because it is difficult for TSDZ8 to turn it with the hand. When motor is detached from the carter, there is no support of the rotor (one bearing remains in the carter).

For FOC with Park and Clarck I used an example provided by Infineon (for XMV1302 MCU). It is only for sensorless but could be adapted for hall sensors. It is here : GitHub - Infineon/cce-mtb-xmc-pmsm-foc-sl: This code example demonstrates the sensor-less PMSM FOC motor control application using XMC1300/XMC1400. In order to test this code example, XMC1000 Motor Control Application Kit is needed. This kit includes an XMC1300/XMC1400 board and a PMSM low voltage motor card with a 3-phase motor.

There is also an application note that explain it: https://www.infineon.com/dgdl/Infin...?fileId=5546d4626bb628d7016be669c3eb7e60&da=t

Can anyone tell me if there is a better deal on a Jlink device and cable than what I can get at Ebikestuff.eu? With all the stupid tariff stuff going on right now, I'm not sure if I would want to try and order something straight from China.

This is in my cart right now. Any promo codes or better vendors that you can share? TIA

64€ just to install different firmware is crazy expensive ngl... just because tongsheng is too cheap to install a Bluetooth chip in their controller for a few cents

There are much cheaper offers for a generic J-Link programmer.

Of course you have to connect the wires manually then.
But you don't need Bluetooth for flashing, you can use a simple USB-UART converter, if the processor has a UART bootloader installed. (And the bootloader procedere is known)

I think no manufacturer plans, that the customer flashes firmware updates at home. This should be done by the dealer or a special service, as the risk to brick the whole system by a wrong firmware or a wrong wiring is too big.

Should throttle work on TSDZ8 motor with VLCD5 display. I have connected throttle to middle connector on display and when I try throttle nothing happens. Walk assist works.

I have also 860C display to TSDZ8 and with that display throttle works.

Yes throttle should work fine on that display as that's the one I'm using and my throttle works great. Maybe you have speed sensor misaligned?

I think VLCD5 was faulty because I tried another one and throttle was working.

Hello, looking for some guidance. I bought at TSDZ8 off of Amazon, and the display (EKD01) shipped separately. Meanwhile, my motor is installed and the battery will arrive in a few days, but the display is now stuck in customs. I need a backup plan in case I never get it, but wondering what displays, not purchased as set with the TSDZ8, that will be compatible. I see both 860C's and EKD01's on Amazon,, but there's no indication of compatibility with the TSDZ8. I'm planning on running the OSF once I get the bike up and running, and as bugs get worked out on the OSF.

860C is a good solution if you plan to use OSF. It allows you to change all config parameters directly with the display. Still this requires to flash once the rogram provided by mbrusa in the 860C display (on top of flashing OSF in the TSDZ8 controller).

Thanks!! So just to be clear, I would need to flash the display to have it work with the TSDZ8 first, even if I don't flash the OSF at this time?
EDIT: did more reading 👍👍

Some tsdz2 displays might work as is.

Thanks. I'll need to take a closer look. The kit came with an IT4 cable, so 9 pins at the motor, then splits to 2 brake switches, throttle, and 5 pin display. The displays I'm seeing so far have a 9 pin cable going directly to the motor, then brake switches attach to the display. Some of those say no throttle support. So more reading...

Off topic whining: Looks like the kit display is in no man's land. This is the worst Amazon experience I've had to date (I was throwing out old files a few days ago and found an Amazon order from ~30 years ago lol). I knew it was about to go bad when the shipping notice said the kit would be sent in two shipments. The battery I ordered after installing the motor gets here tomorrow.

My brother has gotten that kind of notice for one-piece single-item orders....
