New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

That correct, I am near a park which was previously a munitions factory and there are still some parts of the earth blast mounds there which were built with a 45 degree approx slope to the top, anything up to 20 feet high, with a flat top and a 45 degree approx drop slope on the other side. That why I have to drop down the gears to climb up the slope.

Tested my wife's bike after over 5000 miles yesterday.

1. Front tire is unbalanced. Shocks appear loose. Will replace tires sith new Schwalbes. Ordered an inexpensive air shock ZZT fork,
2..Bike has good power assist, almost too much for me., when pedalling, but using throttle causes motor to spin at high speed, It must be slipping,

This is a TSDZ2B. With double sprag clutch, I am guessing the outer clutch is slipping under throttle, but not when pedals are moving. That doesn't make sense. I will have to open it up. I do have a spare gear,

Trying to think the logic of what happens when one pedals and then uses the throttle, perhaps pedalling locks the "clutch(s)" tighter, so perhaps clean out the clutch(s) is the answer.

As per this. TSDZ2B Issue perhaps you should try something like a TF-90 spray which is a fast drying cleaning solvent degreaser 500ml or brake cleaner and lubricate with a light oil.

Does anybody know if the plastic main gear cover for TSDZ2B will also fit TSDZ2 (4 screws version)? Mine broke and absolutely nobody sells the DZ2 version anymore, only DZ2B…

I fitted a steel 34T smaller chainring on the motor but it pushed out the chainline a further 5 mm so I had to rework the gear cluster to get reliable lower gears for climbing the local hills and narrow mountain bike tracks as explained below.
.
Thank you!
No the TSDZ2 is different to the TSDZ2B due to mounting hole positions and also the main gear with the clutch bearing are different diameters.

Thanks. I have the TSDZ2 version with 4 screws rather than 3, the cover on the 2B listing looks identical to mine but you never know. The ebikestuff.eu listing is for TSDZ2 but 60€/$ + shipping for the plastic cover without the seal (the seal is an extra 25 €/$!!!) is a bit much and more than I’m prepared to pay.

The AliExpress link doesn’t work for me it says item doesn’t exist.

Edit: the AE link is wonky bit I can see the difference… 81mm vs 88mm. Just my luck, it’ll be a struggle to find the part.

skestans - can you find someone to make a 3D printed copy using your broken cover as a template, or is it too far gone for that?

Thank you!

3D printing is possible, as I have had a go at printing a TSDZ2 cover modified to suit a TSDZ2B main gear, this was done by this guy on https://www.printables.com/model/1388714-tsdz2-to-tsdz2b-upgrade, have printed it as a test piece but at the moment have not been into it in anger as I can get the TSDZ2 cover, ordered a spare for the spares draw.

I have just checked a spare TSDZ2 body I have and it is a 3 screw as is the "new" spare TSDZ2 mid-drive I have boxed up, can you easily check the size of the thro' hole to see if it is 88mm or 81mm to to see if it is a 2 or 2B mid-drive.

Anyone have their TSDZ2 thumb throttle get sticky and latches (like a cruise control and not return to zero). I bought a TSDZ2B kit (Varstrom) as a spare in case my TSDZ2 dies. The TSDZ2B thumb throttle is a different (superior) design where the entire outer circumference rotates and is much smoother in action. I swapped the TSDZ2B throttle over on my TSDZ2. Still have to test ride.

Thanks. It’s a TSDZ2, I haven’t measured but I got it in 2019 or 2020 and the 2B didn’t exist then. But it’s the second revision of the TSDZ2, with 4 screws.

I saw the 3D printable one, I’d have to modify it to have the four screw holes but I’m very skeptical at the performance e: the seal has to be really tight to work well (both the seal in the groove and the X seal around the bearing. I’m also concerned about temps, PLA softens around 45 degrees Celsius and in the summer it can get there I reckon between the effort of the motor and the sun hitting the black aluminum cover. Are there positive feedbacks from people using the printed part over the long term?

I could model the part I have, it’s just the top screw bit that’s cracked and detached, but I’m just not sure a printed part would cut it (and I’m not sure how to get the chamfer between outside and inside rings properly). I think the original part is nylon, correct?

That's a new one on me, I will have to check my other 2's to see if they are 3 or 4 hole, the last new TSDZ2 I bought was in Sept 2024 and that was a 3 hole. 3D printing I tend to use the PLA+ all the time and print at around 210°C, PETG and ABS, ABS is a pain though you have to watch how you print with it. PLA+ I have printed battery and controller boxes even "sump" guards for the drive just to stop the crap as in the previous photo.

Per AI Overview (can one trust the info?):

Yes, early production versions of the TSDZ2 motor casing came with a 3-screw/3-hole design for the main gear cover before Tongsheng updated it to a 4-hole configuration in later production runs and the subsequent TSDZ2B model. [1]
  • 3-Hole/3-Screw Version: Found on older TSDZ2 production runs. The sealing arrangement on this legacy version was prone to warping or leaking if tightened unevenly. [1]
    • 4-Hole/4-Screw Version: Introduced later in the TSDZ2 lifecycle and carried over to the TSDZ2B to improve clamping force, alignment, and the integrity of the X-seal/O-ring. [1]

Test rode the TSDZ2B throttle. It is superior to the TSDZ2 throttle! Much finer control, does not jerk like the TSDZ2 throttle. I use throttle to get moving quickly from a standstill, never for cruising (like a motorcycle).

Well at least my TSDZ2 3 hole version has lasted over 4500+ miles and is still running, can understand it if tighten the screws unevenly much the same as gaskets and seals on cars etc. So assume the new TSDZ2 3 hole casing could be "new old stock" which I brought back in March 2025 then.
