Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

I got the protect from time to time, mainly when the bike rests a few hours after driving in wet or cold conditions.
The "charge" issue is moisture related.
I wrapped the wirings and connections controller side with tape (and half of the controller) and never got this again.
This is just a quick solution, my new midi e is already delivered and will go inside the frame.

I have another problem. ........
In anti theft mode i can push the bike easily forward, and backwards the motor pushes against it like it should do forward. ........where can i change it?

Just came across a BMS issue, not sure if anyone else has experienced this.

Trying to run 17S (for speed/range HS3540), but in the Battery settings 'Channel A' I only have the options for 0/2/3/4 not 1 anywhere! This is for both Mini-E's with different firmware, one on v1-RC9g the other V1-RC9G1. You get a !BMS! error without the correct setting.

Don't really want to have to strip the battery back to 16S . Cuts it way too close for my 48V PSU for buck charging.

Anyone running 13S, 17S, 21S or 25S have similar issue's or a way around this?

Hi You cannot runt only one cell on the board, must at least be 2
You can solve it by using 3 cells on one board and 2 cells on another.

Thank you for the quick response Allex. +1

Looked at the link you supplied and sods law I've an older version PDF. You have September 2015 :D.

I've the older 3kw Mini-E I don't suppose you know if the Firmware for the latest Mini-E 4kw (MINI-E | v1-RC9G_4.3) is interchangable?
If not what is the most recent firmware for the older 3Kw?

Cheers again Allex

Hi, Yes the new firmwares are compatible with the older version, no problem, brainboard is the same.
One small tip for all new users, the first thing you should do is adjust the contrast of the screen. Default setting is very low. Load up a firmware to one SD-card and then boot up the controller with the SD card inserted in to the screen, then follow the instructions on the screen to adjust it.

It just occurred to me that a fantastic accessory would be balance cables that allow for various Lipo combinations to get above the 20s that most of us who use 4s packs are used to.

That being said, I hope to never need to purchase to Lipo packs again (after I get comfortable with the idea of building my own 18650 or someone near shore provides higher voltage pack options). Come on LunaCycle!

Just to reiterate what Allex has said about the screen contrast, but it makes a load of difference. Vibration, rain and low light are not longer cause an issue reading the smaller text.

Couldn't get the newer Firmware (MINI-E|v1-RC9G_4.3) to work on the older 3Kw Mini-E. 'CRC Failed' after every 'successful' reflash. Tried the PAS Password Protect Firmware (BTW Adaptto Team were very quick to respond +1) and it worked. Disconnected the BMS the second time round, maybe that was the issue..?

Don't really want to go back and check in case it was a card/writer issue .

Hi everyone,
I just finished installing my newly acquired Mini-E on my bike.
Powered it and everything seems in order, with access to all items in the menu.
So before beginning entering all my settings, I decided to upgrade to the latest firmware, v1-RC9G_4.3.
The upgrade went very well, with the progression displayed until finished.
I then removed the SD card, and turned the power OFF.
On turning the power back ON, I got: “CRC failed”. Retried to flash again but got same result.
So what are my options now? I didn't get a “SD card error”. Should I reflash with earlier version of firmware?

Thanks
Guy

Silly question, but are you sure you are using the Mini-E firmware?

Altair - I know it maybe inconsequential, but try disconnecting the BMS cable and reflashing it.

I just had the exact same issue, but a combination of the Password Protected Firmware and BMS being disconnected worked so hopefully it's either/or.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
Yes mammallian, I do have the correct firmware.
I re-did the whole procedure including re-writing the SD card, and IT WORKED !
So now I'm exploring the settings, with the "aid" of the inadequate manual. There should be MUCH more info in there.
Sorry Adaptto, but you earned that thumb down.

Easier to say if you don't know what this setting mean and it is not written in manual - don't touch it :)
If you have some troubles ask here, I will try to help.

Yes Arthur ! If I don't know what it does, I will surely not touch it. :)
But the manual should really be updated with a complete explanation of each function, logically.
I have the latest manual, dated Oct 2014 and the supplement from Nov 2015 but the manual is so outdated that there are functions in the controller that are not mentionned in the manual, and conversely, the manual mentions functions that are not in the controller anymore.
I know that the forum is a great source of information, and I even read most of this thread and many others way before I ordered my Mini-E. But you guys aren't going to spend the rest of your lives constantly debugging & helping new customers with the same old questions that come back every month or so, right? If the manual was more frequently updated, and included a lot of the wisdom from here, and also the experience of the older users, it would benefit greatly the new users and also everyone else.

Today while I was exploring the menu on my controller, I had dozens & dozens of questions for which I couldn't find an answer.
For example, in my battery setup, I chose to specify the type of battery I use (LiFePo4) so the program automatically sets the correct values of voltage for the BMS.
Those values cannot be changed, of course. But the "Critical" voltage is lower than the "Minimum" voltage. Recently, there was a discussion in this thread where someone said:
"you first hit the critical scale, and then the minimum, this is a bit misleading". He was helping someone with a problem. But if the "critical" voltage is supposed to be higher than the "minimum" voltage, why does the software permanently sets the values in the reverse order??? Should I set my battery type to "Custom" so I can set the values differently? The manual makes no mention of this setting. In fact, it refers to a BMS manual, which to my knowledge is still inexistant.

Maybe I'm old-school for preferring a good written manual, but imo this the best way to get users to self-help, at least for all the most common problems. It would also greatly reduce the traffic in this thread.

well noted. I will make user friendly video manual on a weekend to explain main settings and function. :)

has anyone come across throbbing vibration caused by the motor under acceleration?

it feels like the rear wheel is slightly out of balance. at first i thought it was that, but even at high speed, when i let go the throttle, it goes away :?:

so looks definitely to be some setting that is wrong.

pwr timing adjustments dont seem to be the answer.

perhaps something else causing it, anyone had this?

I think that every new firmware release should come with a new revision of the pdf manual.
That revision should address the changes made to the software, of course, but also more info should constantly be added throughout the manual on every topic that needs it.
What I would like to read is a technical explanation of what each particular function does, how it does it, why it is needed, how it might affect other functions, how not to use it, what are the limitations, etc... Obviously, this HAS to be written by the person who programmed the controller, the designer itself, not by a user who doesn't know all the intricacies of the program and just goes from his experience in using it.

Actually, the manual looks like it has been hastily done at the beginning of the production run a couple years ago, but never got revised/corrected/improved. Typically a lack of time & resources in a small young company. It would bemefit them (and us) greatly if they could put the manpower to get this done. Dedicate one person to take care of this for a few weeks, and then afterwards just maintain it regularly.

Btw, I find that the Quick Menu Reference http://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=142241 is much more user-friendly than the official manual, but it isn't even available on their web site! Only the regular user manual is...
In fact, there should be a separate "Installation Manual", and then a "User Manual" in the form of the file linked above. Not two different User manuals + a separate supplement.

I hope that this criticisism doesn't get taken too harshly, because I mean it to be constructive.

Another thing I would like to mention, is an idea to reduce the clutter in this thread.
We could have a new sub-topic called "Bugs" where the known bugs would be listed, along with their characteristics, workarounds or resolutions whatever the case. That sub-topic would be managed by only one person, and would be "read-only". That would (maybe) make it easier for Adaptto to pinpoint & address the problems, while also helping other users with the same problems without having to search through 108+ pages of posts.

I get a little of this also. Most noticeable under light riding so I can hear it also. I also suspect it is a matter of fine tuning which I have not gotten right.
