Coming from a Haibike with Yamaha PW motor which was smooth as silk (but underpowered) Now have Rize RX bike with bafang ultra and when I stop pedaling, the motor keeps running for up to 1 second. This can't be right? I can get used to it but IMO this is a little dangerous and requires some foresight to ride the bike safely with so much power. Are they all like this or is this what I get for buying a relatively cheap bike.

Is your speed sensor working? It may be the cause.
Factory bikes that aren't tuneable often have little faults like these. The worst part is the total lack of support and documentation on the components. We typically recommend building your own so you don't have to deal with these sorts of proprietary systems ( there's just way too many of them, and manufacturers lately have been doing a good job of keeping customers from servicing their machines ).

I really don't know how to tell if my speed sensor is working or not. I'm pretty ignorant about ebikes. I bought this bike after reading about the bafang ultra motor and I wanted/needed more power for hill climbing. I've read about tuning the motor but I've discovered I have CANBUS so tuning may not be possible? The bike rides nice and the power seems to correlate to my pedal pressure but it just doesn't shut off when I stop pedaling. I'm afraid I'll probably just have to live with it but being in the highest assist level and not having the motor stop when pedaling stops just doesn't seem right at all and could actually get someone hurt
I don't want to come off as a big complainer. I love the bike and the ultra motor is just outstanding. I learned quickly to stop pedaling a second before I want/need to and I don't think it will ever be a problem for me but for some people it could be an issue. Maybe if I really get involved, I'll attempt a build in the future but that seems a bit daunting for someone with average mechanical skills

Bafang M620/G510 (and all other Bafang motors) now on CAN-BUS (2021+) rather than UART (2018-2020)?
For the Canbus version of the g510/m620 the same restrictions exist as for the other m500/m600 motors. You can just adjust max speed and wheel size Does anybody have a firmware file for the m620 canbus 48v? THIS! So I have version CRR10MC4830E101118.1 flashed to my ultra. I've been searching...

I think this is what I'm after from the thread posted above. ( In the meantime I also got my hands on v41.1 which is similar to v1.1 but without the terrible decay time when you stop pedaling. the only downside is the speed limit is set to 16 mph, but you can set that higher after flashing within the BESST app.)...... terrible decay time when you stop pedaling is what I think is happening. A little confused on all the steps needed to flash the motor/controller though.
