Belt driven off road bike (Giant Reign)

The powerwheelies are awesome fun Matt! Great to see you and Tony today. Hope the ride home was fun and free of PoPos :)

Great to see it finished Matt!

It looks really nice.

I bet it hounds. Single stage reduction like that, with that voltage and current.

What top speed is it geared for?

Thanks Chris and Danny, it does 52kmh and crawls up any hill just as I planned/hoped.
I went for a late night blast last night and did a 20km trip basically flat out the whole way, no heat issues at all.
Motor was obviously warm but I could hold my hand on the motor indefinitely, cool night 10deg C. No heat detectable in the 24 Fet.
Used half of the battery, 650wh of 1300wh available.
Vids to come.

Very cool.

Would love to hook up for a ride.

Your top speed is right around mine so it should be more fun than just trailing behind AJ

I only got 660wh so can only do about 15km probably....

Ok a year has passed since I last worked on this bike, I lost interest after burning a 24 Fet controller.
So I dragged the bike off the back burner last week and fitted a new 24 Fet and did some bench testing and discovered that I must have had a false positive with the phase and hall wire combinations.
With the rear wheel off the ground,ie no load, it was pulling 8 amps which I thought was slightly too high. The motor got quite hot with in 2 minutes like this.
Through trial and error I found a combo that pulls only 1.5 amps no load, stoked! But now I know why I burned the other controller.
I finished the battery cover and went for a test ride last night, I haven't done any programming on the infineon yet but it's pulling 95 amps at 70 volts out of the box, simply awesome! It power wheelies no trouble and spins the rear in sand. I've only run it for about 5 minutes and the cyclone motor is not too hot so far.
Here's the latest photos.

So keen to make something similar so I can hit the trails...look forward to seeing the bike in person...
