I've been reading about getting a fatter tire for e-bikes and I keep seeing the Maxxis Hookworm 26x2.5 as a great choice.

How can I make sure my rims and frame can accept and have room for them before ordering? MY bike is a 2007 KHS Alite 500.

Thanks :)

Use a measuring tape. Tire width varies with the choice of rim, but usually the size specified by the manufacturer is about as wide as a tire can be.

ok... but what are the dimensions of the tire. Its height from the rim and its width?

I don't really know who these things work exactly. Does the 2.5 mean 2.5 inches high or wide?

Thanks

2.5 is the tire width. You only need to measure if it clears the rear triangle.
The height also varies with the choice of rim, but for fat tires you can consider it to be about the same as the width, unless you chose a mud tire with very aggressive knobs.

2.5 is pretty wide. I've found my cheapo bikes max out at about 2.3 tire. In one case, I removed a kickstand, and made some room with a grinder. That bike, I have to keep that tire true and perfect or it rubs.

My better bikes can handle 2.5 easily, such as my specialised FSR. It's actually got some 3's on it.
