Awesome! I can't believe how light it weighs! And Thud really dressed up that Turnigy too, you're such a proud father, did you guys smoke some cigars when it was delivered?? Oh wait, you guys roll your own " cigars" huh?

sooo small!! more of a puppy than a dog box! great work from thud and such a nice simple design, I can see a few others taking his lead with this.

Good luck with the rest of the build AJ enjoyed the ride video as well very cool 8)

Cheers Knoxie...took awhile but we finally got it upped hahaha...cheers for recommendation of vimeco turned out to
be not too bad, no idea why it resized the first one still... alls well that ends well :) Yes the box seemed so much larger
when Thudster posted pics, not complaining at all smaller is better AND haha Annnd i credit the "lightening holes" Thud
did to the lightness of the box lightening holes FTW  :p

Looks really good!

I love how so many cottage industry guys have come together to accomplish some of these cool builds.

Cheers to you, my friend!

Matt

Ain't it GREAT Matt!! fellas like you and Thud and Bubba turning out some brilliant stuff, you should all give yourself
a BIG pat on the back honestly, i have wondered what the e-bike scene would be like here if it wasn't for you coming along with
the recumbent and introducing the forum to a totally new way of doing things Matt ;) Curious if you have any planes to fab up a mulit speed reduction drive yet i know your pretty happy with single speed?

LOL..Carbon fiber, black/blue anodizing and stainless stell fixtures doesn't get a whole lot better than that in the looks department IMHO..

Cheers guys, should have an update for you tis afternoon, have a doc appointment this morning so i am "staying clean"
till then will hit the workshop this arvo when i return...Also need to give Tim a hurry up at the Bike shop
i really need to have the rear hub here to get the alignment of the drive/rear sprocket in the general area, will obviously need
some sideways adjustment built into the mounting, i have a plan it involves 10mm aluminium plate and stainless
steel cap screws OH and lightening holes HAHA

Nice touch ..that extra boss on the end bell ! .. to help transmit the extra power to the shaft presumably ??
Is there going to be a cover /casing to keep bits of WA out of the moving parts ? (acrylic ?)

I guess we should tells the folks the blue cover is just temporary and will
actually be used a s a mould to make a carbon fiber cover from ..

Make them flicker with the motor speed..... 8)

Hillhater said:
Ahhhh..!! missed that.
you could make it clear and put some of those blue LED's inside ! 8)

Might as well just buy a hair dresser car like a Honda Civic and complete the transformation to "Hyena" status and be done with it :p

:: waits for Luke to "swim" by and take the bait::

Actually i had thought of using clear plexi frost it and embed LED in the sides, it makes the whole plexi glow fluorescent blue, done it with
the custom plexi radiator shrouds in in my pc watercooling setup.

Want more of a racer look for this bike, lots of anodized ali, carbon fiber and stainless.

hahaha that sounds like more of a RICE'R look to me kim. You gonna put some GTR badges on it too? :p just pullin your chain, settle down. -1 for the led's look, oh and negative points for any chrome you put on this too kim, it has to be either stainless, billet, carbon or black 8).

have you finished making my frame yet? :) hahahaha

Yes you do but i wasn't referring to your car , i was referring to your sexuality preferance i.e "Hyena status"= flaming homosexual
man loving size Queen (not that theres anything wrong with that)

Speaking of flashing lights wouldn't surprise me if the next thing that makes it onto your bike is a array of flashing
lights across the handles bars, like KITT in Night Rider, will really look "special" buddy looking
forward to seeing how that turns out for ya :p

After this bike i will be taking a looooong break from fabricating anything its summer time, shall save the dollars then
wrok on a electric bike not bicycle bike, i might even think about getting my license back and making
it electric 3/4 size bobber only trouble is i wont be able to take the wheelchair on it so would be a ride
day only bike i guess, or i could sell it to make money for the next project....curse this hobby...but i can
quit any time i want

Its like Christmas here the last two days haha...Mr Jeremy Harris's
servo controller turned up in the mail today WooTz Thankyou Jeremy
the guy from EVLOgixs needs to get some assembly and soldering
lessons from you SiR damn nice work you do Jermey ;)

IMG_5913_renamed_14405.jpg

LiL reminder of what this lil doohickey does...

Will be using a servo to change the gears of the ThudSTaR 8) S Speed Box....

Have packaged it back up and stored it away for safe keeping until needed
down the track...

Putting through an order at HK after Thursday a cnc cased
oversized metal geared servo will be on that

MG959.jpg

i know, i know... it has been said large high torque
servo isn't necessary but they are same price as smaller ones i have plenty
of room and they just look more solid and up to the task than the lil
servos....c'mon the case is cnced from 6061 how can i not use one fellas sheesh haha

When i order the actuator from Servo City for the stabilizers i will also pick up
some threaded rod , ball linkages & a couple of springs to complete the connection
from the servo to the box

http://www.servocity.com/html/linkages.html

Should be nice strong neat solution...

Ciao for now...

Poor Hyena is such a good guy, and helps you with things, and you're such a douche to the poor guy just because he runs a hubmotor, just like the buddy you were riding with. Lol.

I like Hyena, and I think he is in the top 1% least homo members of this site. Lol
Hopeful its just to spur him towards giving a non-hub build a shot.

I wana see you put that tranny in a vise now with a drill spinning that input shaft at a good high speed, and work the linkage by hand so we can see and hear that beauty swapping gears. :)

Glad it arrived OK, Kim - thanks for the kind words. The postage was so cheap on it (given that you're around 9000 miles away from here) that I was a bit worried they were going to send it overland/sea. I still don't understand why postage to Australia is a fraction of the cost of postage to the US or Canada.

I like the metal cased servo, much better than the crappy plastic that most are made of.

Jeremy

OMG i wish i had seen that servocity site before i started building my friction drive....was looking for 1/4 ball joints etc for ages.

Damn lucky bugger with that 2speed box, if it goes as well as its going to look your bike is going to be a killer

Yeah Jays good value for sure Luke, he gives me a good ribbing in PM don't you worry mate he gives it out as well as he takes it haha
In fact just this morning he congratulated me on maiking it to Tuesday this week, right before he hoped i die in a fire ....again LMAO...
... we is meeting up early next year when he comes West for work be cool to give him shit face to face LOL
...hopefully when he rides the bikes it will push him over the edge ;)
We have plans to build a custom frame up for an rc setup so it will be easy for him to just bolt a rc setup straight on
if you recall in my old cruiser worklog HiGHSiDE upped a photochop of what he was looking for, its very much the design of the new bike
i will re-use these molds i am taking so much time on for Jays frame as well so he can also do away with freakin duct
tape and PVC pipes for battery housing, i might give him shit Luke but i will help him anyway i can for all the times he
has helped me you can count on that ;)

...Just for the record to those that aren't aware, Hyena is married
to a smoking hot lady ...not sure how that happened but it is the case LoL... he definitely doesn't "bat for the other team"
if he did i wouldn't be stirring him about it, i would be accusing him of being straight :p

Luke...Re: the box... I was actually thinking i could just hook the motor to the esc in the cruiser and spin it up
quite curious the sound it will make when its syncs with the big thick wires haha...

Obviously shall get some video of that for ya'll ;)

Jeremy- And quicker than some of the gear i get posted from Eastern Satets to this side of OZ too Jeremy!!! No joke
i waited 9 days to get something from Queensland to Perth ridiculous, although the frock motor Hyena sent
me was here in 5 and it came by road....go figure...

KiM

Right on Kim. :) just wanted to make sure Hyena wasn't getting beaten up too badly. ;)

If you've got a controller and all that, what are you waiting for? We are all dying to see that tranny grab a gear and growl!

^^^ ROFLMAO@ GTadmins cartoon

OK...Luke, ask and ye shall receive buddy  as requested video of the 2 Speed ThudSTaR box spinning up using hv160 44v 20ah lipo pack
from my cruiser...

I was too scared to shift it under full power so i hye..., i mean i girlie shifted it, letting the power off slightly
Thudster did advise to do this when running under load in the bike, once i have the spring loaded
servo setup and get the hang of the throttle/shifting mechanism/speed i will have fast changing with
minimal throttle lift.

I was pleasantly surprised, the no load speed is a ful 2amp LOWER than with the stock Turnigy 80-130kv
when mounted on Recumpence reduction drive  Please explain Luke or Thud how you do that
It still makes the cool start up tunes and BEST OF ALL!!! it SCREAMS like it used to WOOOOOTz :)

EDIT: just checked video on YouTbe thanks to their compression the amps aren't viewable on the Turnigy meter
it read 5.4 stock it was 7.6ish amps...

Back soon fellas...

KiM

Wow! That really is compact! I really hadn't realized it was so small, but now seeing it in this video, I'm even more impressed with that little box! Way to go Thud!

That is the coolest video on this forum.

Shifts so well. That is just over the top. Incredible.

I must build one.
