Farfle's Race bike

my new ebike build with the genesis v2100 walmart bike. I will have 5403 motors coming in couple months from now. 8)
The reason I ask is the 3x16" tire is big and the frame will not accept it. I had to smash open my frame to accept the 2.5x16" tire!

I am going use farfie's custom extended swing arm 150mm spacing. I did asked the person who used his ebike with the pirelli 2.5 in front and 2.75 in rear end. He said it fits. weird. Let me get the link. Give me few mins.

Here the link the guy in SF near my place. He uses 2.5 in front and 2.75 in rear. It works well with the 20" wheel rim.

Yeh As long as the 3.0x16 fits inside the swing arm. You might find you are not gaining anything because of tire roll when you put a fatter tire on the same rim. Whats the rim width?

I don't know the rim's width and I still in research find right choice bmx 20" rim fitting with the pirelli ML75 tires. If you have any suggest or recommend the bmx rim?

I have standard bmx rims with 2.5x16 front and rear and they are a bit to wide for the rim already if I put a wider tire on the same rim I would get less contact patch with the road surface because of how the tire will roll when installed on the rim. but dude you will be able to drag knees with a 2.5x16 on the bmx rims! I can corner so so awesome!

I love dragging my knee on corners! Cause I used be involve 600 class superbike race in past. I guess I will look for 20x2 or 2.5 bmx rim.

I don't think MotorBicycleRacing at Grange Racetrack allows me bring my race bike with the pirelli ML75 tires.

Sorry Farfie, for taking up your thread.

so the 5403 hub motor is over 8" diameters? I haven't measure my HS35 motor.

I am assuming that thats stator diameter, hell, even a 9c motor is bigger than that.

Sounds like he listend to sosautys "wisdom" about motor sizing
For class classification?, I for one APPLAUD the decision erm, I mean...damn! No hub motors in class racing, thats a shame

Well, the baby lemco motor is a pretty awesome thing, but 1400 bucks if you can even get your hands on one, turnigys are a decent drive system, but you have to use two, with two controllers, and that gets complex and expensive real quick, theres the big mofo outrunner that thud has, but not a whole lotta info on it (from the looks of it its about 1.5 turnigys) . Sigh, a pmg motor on an alltrax controller looks to be the best power package for cheap now that hubbies are out. Hope that rule gets changed. Anywho, back to frame building.

How many turnigys did PaulD use again Farfle?
Before you use the weight arguement and say "yes but he was feather weight" I would wager Aiden who rode your bike was just as light...

The Turnigy Thud has is the Ca-120..i bought me timma2500's
Ca-120 to rewind also, just in case I win lotto and can make the trip to the good ol USofA :p

Im pretty sure that we were lighter than paul, and my bike was quite a bit faster, definately prooves you cant beat a pro rider with power. Have learned a ton with this bike, the kenda tires were garbage. The fork we had would bind if the bike leaned too far, and the brakes were not up to par also some frame changes are in order, this one is a little too long for the amount of power we had, and was too spongy and floppy in the corners. Not a bad performance for a bike that can be built for under 1500 bucks tho.

I am not a huge fan of hubmotors on a race bike, thats just what I had. The twin turnigy setup is very tempting, but I would have to start almost from scratch building one as I dont have alot of turnigy related stuff "laying around". Chain, belt sprockets etc... Might run twin modded HX crystalytes tho, one as a mid drive chained to another in the wheel, that could be fun.

Farfie, Yeah what do you expect cheap Dart fork isnt exactly design for racing but nice ride as in commuter. You would want
get a Tora Trail 289 or 302 fork with Lockout feature. When you approach the corner, enable the lockout by your thumb, and it will very stiff prevent nose
diving during the hard brake.

I have Tora Trail 289 U-Turn 80-130MM travel suspension. Edward Lyen loves my ebike.

I agree with you about hub isn't great on race track. I mean not everyone can afford build a non hub motors and I would love build 2 stage motors made by recumpence.

Now it's no motors over 8". That means no hub motors at all in class racing.

As i understand it, hub motors are fine...It's non hub motors that are getting defined...
Motorbicycleracing says:
I already said that any hub motor was OK if you were paying attention.

Just talking about the external motors like what Luke and PaulD were running.
PaulD's bike is fine and was a blast to briefly ride at the track.
Farfles bike was fine and his hub motor is way bigger than 8"

Only bike affected is Lukes and I hope he runs it in the Unlimited class next race
and doesn't break it for the 3rd? time running.
I mean come on, Lukes bike went 67 mph down the front straight and probably
could have gone faster.

as for affordable e-race bikes...I am working on a solution...bolt on rc goodness that won't break the bank.

on topic....The base bike for Fafles build is on sale at my local wallmart....I sat on one & pondered all the while recalling how nice Farfles unit was to blast about on...I may go back & talk to a manager & see if they are taking offers to clear the racks...(they had 4 of these & a slew of bmxer's my new drives will bolt directly onto) itds really odd to see how "junky" it looks in the store.....Farfles seem'd a lot better. amazing what a different fork & some decent brakes will do for you.

The bikes are sooo choofy out of the box its funny. All I was looking for was the frame and shock linkages/pivot arm.

Hows the custom swing arm going? 8)

Have the steel in the shop, after class tomorrow ill fire up the bender and get step one rolling

Awesome I am looking forward see your custom swing arms. :)

Beautiful, I can't wait complete my ebike build and I should get 5403 on 20" rim sometime next year from ilia. I am going run 100v100A and What will I expect how fast with this setup?

More pictures as progress rolls on, working on brake mounts, suspension wishbone pivot points and the derailleur mount. Then they'll be shipped off to good homes :D.
