I wonder why Harbor Freight doesn't sell ebike kits?

Yeah but you know that somehow they'd end up selling one with a brushed motor and lead acid batteries.

Amerikan' don' understand Chinaman high technologee!

They do sell some motorized stuff, but not for bikes, and not as kits--they're boxed vehicles complete but unassembled. Offroad-only AFAICT, as none of the ones I've seen in stores here would be legal to ride on the roads (would need a license and registration, but don't have the stuff needed to allow them to be registered, or are disqualified in some other way).

If they *did* sell ebike stuff, they'd just sell the crappiest crap they could get hold of, and retard ebike public image development by years or decades. ;)

Northern tools does sell ebikes. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200466702_200466702

And other currie stuff.

It is kinda suprising though, that HF doesn't at least sell the scooters and stuff you see at pep boys.

Basically they import the cheapest China shit they can. They don't stand behind those products either.

Pep boys has been actually sued by the feds for importing scooters etc that weren't up to federal emissions standards ( amazing because those standards are WAY LOW for these kinds of things, no catalytic converter needed or anything )
