Haha this is what happens with 90% of the large frame builds on ES, they build the bike with regular MTB wheels and after the first test ride they are asking about/upgrading to Moto wheels!

You are on the right track, the bike looks so nimble and clean with MTB wheels but they cannot handle the weight of these refrigerator frames once everything is packed into place. And this again will just add the overall weight of the bike, but you are now in a category of light motorcycle IMO and it will actually make the bike safer/handle better and be more reliable since you will likely never get a flat with Moto wheels

The one thing I have not upgraded after swapping to Moto wheels on my Kuberg is the hyrdo brakes, I can notice how much harder it is to stop since getting rid of the light MTB wheels, but it looks like you have nice 4-pistons already

Will miss the MTB wheels but I’ll be using this bike on dirtbike/ATV trails so need the Moto wheels for that stuff. The bike actually handles perfect as is, just don’t trust MTB wheels with rough terrain at higher speeds. Have some technical MTB trails near my house and the wheels feel great at slower speeds.

Yeah for sure more of an E motorcycle then e-bike. I kept the pedals because I also do lots of urban riding in my city, so hoping this dual purpose tire will be a good fit.

So upgraded to the DNM burner and used the 550 LBS spring that it came with for about a week. Just upgraded to a 600 pound red rock shock. The new spring is longer and much thicker. I’ll upgrade the spring again if it’s not enough lbs but it feels like the Sweet Spot.

I’ll post pictures below of how I simply used gorilla tape to make this work :lol: don’t let anyone tell you you’re stuck with your DNM coil spring because other brands won’t fit, yes they do!

Received my front hub this morning

Getting closer and closer to building these wheels
I was going to order the hope pro 4 hub but it’s a two month waiting time

With this front hub I went with single disc mount, my current front hub has dual mounts for rotors but it greatly reduces the width between the spoke flanges which makes a weaker wheel. So this time I opted for a single mount so the hub flanges would be more spaced apart to create a stronger wheel. I’ll post pictures below of the differences of the hub flange spacing.

Well the spoke holes in the front hub are 3.1 mm
Plan on running 12 gauge spokes which are 2.6 mm.

Could consider 11/12 gauge if I can find them because 11 gauge is 3.0 mm so that would fit. So maybe 11 gauge through the J-bend and 12 gauge on the stright. Actually I’m just now thinking about this because I had planned on running just straight 12g.

Ordered 12 gauge moped nipples from Yojimbo’s Garage, i’ll post a picture below of his contact info if anyone needs 12 or 13 gauge moped nipples, 6mm nipple body.

Went with SAE #10 flat washers for the spoke nipples. These
were originally flat washers and now are belleville. Something to consider when you make your own washers is the outside diameter will get smaller and the inside diameter will get larger from stretching the washer. I opted for the -#10 washers because the inside hole diameter was slightly smaller than 6 mm. Now that they’re stretched it’s a perfect fit with just .2mm of clearance between the nipple and washer.

Next step is to order the spokes now since I have the washers and nipples sorted out. Now I can figure out the ERD of the rim.

Don't forget community entrance signs, water fall feature elements, rotating mini-mall signs, sometimes even gardens will have a hidden outlets for xmas/show lights, public bathrooms, heck I once even charged up at a house (8-plex) I thought was vacant and under construction.

You should bring along a fishing rod to cast a few lines

QS 205 V3 6T
Will lace this 205 in the excel rim. Just received the motor this morning so will take some measurements and get the rear spokes ordered :thumb:
The front spokes are ordered, should be here next week.

Purchased two freewheels, Shimano 16 tooth the other is a 22 tooth sunlight. Also got a Magura 220mm rotor.

Will go with the 22 tooth freewheel to allow for easier peddling just in case of any electrical failures. Also added a second chain ring to the front which is a 22t as well, that was the smallest I could find. Will be using a clutch derailer in the rear which should allow me to manually switch between chainrings depending on the situation. Don’t plan on doing much peddling often mainly to just be prepared in case of any electrical issues. Also I need to put the bike seat on there to pedal efficiently.

The spokes for the front and rear should be here this week. Really curious to see what kind of torque this QS205 6T produces

Well just received my spokes, finally!
Starting the rear wheel now :thumb:

Programmed the QS205 to my Sabvoton controller and the top speed looks to be similar as the mxus 3k 5T. I’m sure I will suffer a little bit on top speed being a 6T but it’s all about the torque!

I’ll post more pictures once I get the rear wheel built :thumb:

The QS205 6T is laced! Just did little test riding in my yard, super torque! Only tested for a few minutes and the amps are actually turn down less than what I had before and the front wheel was coming off the ground with ease. Much more low-end torque even though my mxus 3K5T was great, but there’s no comparison with this QS way more fun!

Still need to get the tire to seat properly on the bead, for both sides. I’ll fix that tomorrow!

I may have missed it somewhere but what frame is that? I was eying the voilamart stealth clones for a winter project but this seems much nicer. Did the seat come with it? most of the steath clones i see have a regular seat which would be a deal breaker for me

Actually I have the bicycle seat mounted on there now as I’ve been doing more peddling and it’s hard with the moto/enduro seat because it’s so low.

Yep, just drilled out the holes on the front hub. I drilled them out but you can actually still see the red anodized in the middle of the hole as I’ve barely removed any material. The spokes barely fit before I drilled the holes but it was a little too tight.

Took it on some trails yesterday, performed very well! Haha I had 19” Moto rim on the back and front 27.5” :lol:

I’m actually starting the front wheel build now, just drilled out the hub for the 12 gauge spokes.

Well got the front wheel laced. That literally took all day :lol: :lol: what are you gonna do right, sometimes that’s just the way it goes!

Got the spokes really tight and the wheel is true! That was rather the easy part but for some reason I kept messing up on the three cross but eventually got it sorted. Did have to grind down the spokes sticking past the nipples as they cut the spokes a little long

Really happy with the way the wheels turned out! I’m glad I went with the black wheels and not the red, it would’ve been too much. I guess now it’s Time to get this tire mounted
