Yes that rim with the 2.75x19 SR241 is only 1/3" smaller in diameter than a 24TMB running a 24x3.00 Duro Razorback DH tire. You would have no issue with size difference.

So...i just spoke with john rob holmes and have chosen shinko 241's for both my front and rear tire. My blue pro-wheel 19x1.85" rims are being built up as we speak with the cromo V3! Can't wait to put it on. If anyone's looking for a 26" cromo in a large marge, hollar at me.

Pro wheel and putting on the Shinko 241s. That brings my OD to 24.5". My current OD is a hair above 27". Do you think that'll make a noticeable difference in top speed? Did you see a change when you dropped in wheel size? I dropped to the 19" for hopes of better acceleration and to decrease the workload on the motor.

Your OD with a 2.75x19 SR241 will be right around 25.1 inches give or take 1/10th inch. You will probably loose about 1MPH, 2MPH max. You will notice a slight increase in acceleration. I don't have any experience with the cromotors...yet. But I can tell you that the 5403 and 5404 are very happy motors with a 19mc rim/tire combo. I think you will be very happy with your MC tires and rims. Say good bye to flats.

Just got my shinko 241 19x2.75 tire and I could not believe how big it is and robust. Much bigger than the 2.4" tires I use on my bike.

The knobs are much bigger than anything I have seen on a bicycle tire, not just longer but wider. I would think they were too large for optimal traction on a light weight ebike.

This will probably work well for the rear, but I question how it will be on the front. Front tires wear very slowly and I wonder if the harder compound and big knobs of a motocross tire will work better than a normal bicycle tire on the front.

I would think you could use a much softer bicycle tire on the front for better traction which also has smaller knobs to dig in easier because of the light weight of an ebike. Since front ebike tires seem to wear so slowly and never pinch flat I see no reason for such a heavy duty motocross tire.

Qman, the traction of the SR241 is way way better than the Duro Razorback 24x3. The SR241s work really well on all terrain. Wet pavement to gravel roads. It works. Rolling resistance is minimal. Don't get in the habit of prejudging tires before you try them out. Of all the tires I have tried int he 19mc tires the SR241s are the best, and surprisingly, the Bridgstone M403 70x100/19 was the second best. Its a IT Knobby and works much better than one would think on pavement. I havent tried the SR244 yet. It may be better than the SR241, or the second best tire out there for ebikes. Wont know until I try one some day.

Hello everyone, over the last fewweek I got several PMs from folks wanting to know if a 19MC rim would be Okay to run with a 24MTB on the front or a 26MTB on the front. Here are couple of pics of the 2.75 x19 Shinko SR241 on a Prowheel racing yamaha Play bike 19x1.4 rim next to a 24 MTB with a 24x3 Duro Razorback. The naked eye can't tell the difference, it takes a tape meausre and a keen eye for level to know that the 2.75x19 SR241 is only 1/3" (8mm) smaller diameter than the Duro Razorback. In these pics, the tires are actually identical because I have about 1500 miles on the Razorback. Sorry for the low quality pics, its my cell phone. Cross posted on other threads.

DAMN Moonshine! Looking great! I am glad your are going with the SR241, I have now tested 16 different tires. I keep going back to the SR241s because they are the best on the road and dirt. Yah a knobbie works better on the dirt, the M62 Michelin works better on pavement. But no tire works better than the SR241 on all types of terrain. You wont regret it.

Thanks rix! Can't wait to get them on! The shinko 241s are gonna be awesome!I won't be riding of road too much, but I will be riding on packed dirt trails. This is looking more and more like a moped/dirt bike. Getting tough for me to ride on regular bicycle trails in D.C. with my Moto style helmet and my bike without attracting too much attention.

I think they may be 10ga now that I think about it. I think that's standard for moped rims.

Judging by the washers under the nipples on your rear rim, I would be willing to bet they are close to 3mm spoke. Mic it if you want to know for sure. Yah, it will look a little less like a bicycle. But still pedal around folks and don't go 50 MPH in bike paths or bike lanes around cops and you are golden. Can't wait to see everything fitted up and running. Please post some pics.

Yes, especially when the drill hole angles in the rim don't line up perfectly with the spoke line from the rim to the hub. The washers help distribute tension MORE evenly on the nipple head. Very critical for wheels taking a set and staying true.
