Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

no, this is not for hub motor, it is for bosch type approach.

i think you can use hall signal instead of speed sensor, all you need to do is hand make this cable, i need to confirm it as i remember i was told by customer he did that :D
Sorry Danny i meant the new version of the original speedict,i believe you said would come out in December any more news on that release ?
And on using the hall signal from the controler for speed, instead of the wheel wire /spoke magnet, it was more of a request for official support/ development, im sure it would be popular with users as it is with the Cycle Analist.

we have no solid schedule on new ebike, for the hall signal as speed signal can be done via software not hardware ... but have to schedule it.
 
Today recieved tracking code, hope the cabels arived before 29-aug then i have somthing to do at my vacation :)

Danny do you know if it is possibel to mount the speedict inside the controller case.
I don't know if the bleutooth signal will pass the alloy case

I will be much cleaner installation with all the cabels inside the controller case :)
My controller runs not verry hot, i use only 15A 44.4V and have good airflow.
I dont thing heat inside the controller is a problem for the speedict.
And i can use the temp sensor for cutoff if it runs to hot.


When we can use te hall signal for speed it saves 2 more wire and a reed sensor and some ugly tywraps :)
Maybe even better if it use the GPS speed from phone, but i understand not all android divice have GPS and the speedicht can't log GPS speed. But it saves a input maybe for an extra temp sensor :) .

you can't simply put speedict ebike inside alloy case / aluminum case because of bluetooth signal, but you can have little solder job to diy antenna which can extend outside case.

I've been waiting for someone to overide the Bosch system for ages - one thing that's stopped me plumping for a Haibike is the 25km/h max assist.

I'm very happy with the speedict, I have 2 questions if you don't mind:
- Every time I close speedict I loose all the data on the software. Data are not lost in the speedict, but is there a way to keep track of the previous session on the speedict? The only way to keep track is to never close the software, but sometime it's a bit annoying when I need memory in my phone.
- I have a small sensor on my Mac motor. It is just a red wire giving 1v=1°C. Is there a way to plug that to the speedict? Is the standard temp sensor works the same?

sorry i don't get it, what's mean by software ? pc suite ? do you mean when data download to pc suite without sorting or time stamp ?

the speedict temperature port just a simple DAC port, the port setting match + 10.0 mV/ ̊C, so if your sensor + 1V/ ̊C you just need to add voltage divider circuit !
 
I just mean the screen on android. If I turn the application of, all the data (wh, km, etc...) is reset. Was just wondering if there is a way to keep that when the application is off (in android)

Also, is there a simple way to add a voltage divider? Is there anything I can solder in series to divide the voltage?

no, we keep everything under "SESSION" e.g. you connect battery to speedict ebike, without android connected, all data will be logged into the temporary location, such as Wh, Max Speed, Max Current ... as long as you still connected with battery you still under same session, that's our design to prevent bluetooth disconnect issues, when bluetooth is re-connected you can have all values like max current, max speed etc....

however, if you

1. press the new session button
2. or re-connect battery

when connect android, you see present session values

yes just in series to your signal wire, please do make sure top voltage of the signal line is ~5v, check your 1v/1C sensor is powered by 5v or higher ? if it is powered by 5v your output will be within 5v safe zone, just simply in series with voltage divider circuit e.g. 20 times so the measuring range will be 100C with 5V ok ?

btw, why you need or want other temperature sensor ?
 
Yeah, the session are a bit annoying because I always disconnect the battery when the bike is not in use to preserve the battery. Would be great for next update to keep the session until user decides to have a new one.


I have a temp sensor directly plugged inside my mac motor when I purchased it. So I'd like to be able to see how it goes :)
This sensor goes in line directly with my hall sensor plug (I have 6 pin). So it's maybe 5V? I'm not sure I have to ask cellman for that. Could you recommend the voltage divider in order to achieve that? I also don't have another plug to go into the speedict, so I may have to buy another temp sensor from you and strip the voltage divider in it.

oh i see, you are first customer want this modification, however it involve huge program re-code, we will keep discuss with our engineer team for it.

yes it is 5v if from hall sensor and make sense.
don't need to order from us, i will send you one with built-in voltage divider because we have such tiny circuit board, remember the blue throttle cable ? it has voltage divider circuit inside, we just change the ratio from 1/2 to 1/20 ...

oh btw, you said this temperature sensor is from motor right ? and it is 1v/1c ? that doesn't make sense because when powered by hall sensor voltage source normally 5v, it can measure temperature range up to 5C ? so please double check with the datasheet, may be 10mv / c ? you may don't need voltage divider circuit then.

"These motors are fitted with an LM35 temperature sensor.....Cell_Man selected this device over the passive devices which Justin suggested to enable folks without CAs to use a simple voltmeter to measure temperature (the LM35 outputs 10mv / °C, so it reads nicely on even a simple $5 voltmeter.) However the internal architecture of the LM35 is such that it won't work properly with a pullup voltage applied to its output- it can only source current, not sink it."

we use LM35 too so you just simply cut our temperature sensor and make sure wire order (gnd, 5v and signal) is correct, connect it to your hall sensor port 6, you can immediately live view it, or you can use voltmeter to measure your port 6 to see if it has voltage because under room temperature should have 1.xv output, if you see around 1.xv output in room temperature, you can then directly plug to our port

Hello Danny,

Just did the test with the voltmeter as this is the fastest and simplest.

I connected my voltmeter to the red wire (number 6) out of the mac and to the black wire (number 1) and I read 264mv. I suppose it means the mac motor is at 26.4 C? All's fine and I can plug it directly to the wire on the speedict?
 
Danny... bad news... I may have killed another speedict :(

Here is what happened:
- I connected as usual the speedict to the battery and controller, no problem.
- Then sliced the temp sensor. I connected the white wire (signal) to the temp sensor coming out of my mac.
- For unknown reason, just with this white wire, the speedict was able to read the temp! Miracle. It reads 26.5C. Perfect.
- I tried to use the throttle to see how the temp would increase... I started slowly... then go faster on the throttle... The wheel spins and I was looking at the temp.
- But it didn't stop. The wheel keeps spinning! :shock: I thought it would be a problem with my throttle wire, I disconnect them one after the other... Red, green, black... No more throttle connection.. but the wheel keeps spinning at max speed. :shock:

-- WHAAAAat the fuuck?? Motor keeps running without throttle connected at all???? :shock: :shock: :shock: --

- It started to smell the melted plastic. Damn!
- While handling the bike, I used my leg and unplug the main wire of the battery. Everything stops. Wires are all hot. And speedict stopped working. There is only a very dim green light on it...
- When I plugged again the controller to the battery without speedict, everything works as normal. Motor doesn't spin automatically and spins only via throttle.


I don't understand what happened. It looks like a windows bug. Usually ebikes are very predictable. It seems like there was a short or something that used max amps somehow via the temp sensor... Speedict was only connected via the main wires and from the white wire of the temp sensor. I don't see how anything can short..

Damn.. :(

first of all can you tell me "Wires are all hot" mean ? which wires ? you should on no load test right ? current should around 1-2A on full throttle
 
Yes it was on no load test, so it shouldn't be hot.
Phase wires were definitely hot and heatshrink area started to melt. Not sure about other wires... Still don't understand how can that ever happen.
