Hi,

I want buy unite motor my1018 250w 24v,if possible in Europe,I search in a lot of internet shop(like TNC scooter) but the motor is always out of stock I can buy only the 450w 24v but this version is rated for 24amp and my battery have 20amp max continuous discharge.

Thanks in advance,

Sergio

You could buy the 450w. You would put a 20A fuse or circuit-breaker on your pack, if your controller does not limit current at 20A.

It has sort of been proven that it doesn't give 450W constantly, but it was underpowered when I used a 250W controller.

www.allelectronics.com carries the motor for $45 and will ship to other countries. Their shipping will be cheaper than anywhere else, and so is the motor. Search for "geared". They also have alot more neat things to tinker with.

proven where by who ?
i ran one last year 4000+km at peaks of 1780w...all stock no mods
stock 24v 35a controller @ 54v(48 nominal)
so from someone who abused there motor it is tough and can easily pull 450w all day long
i am 220 lb my bike is 70 lb and i usually pull my old lady on her bike

I don't have time to find it right now but a distinguished member on this forum proved that pulling 450w continuous will burn it up. I am sure it pulls upwards of 1500 peak, but just like a car amp it won't give it all day.

well when you have time i'd love to see who/what was written
i hammered this motor for a year and you saying it won't pull 450w because you read it?
i speak of this because i own the product... even at 10a and 48v is more than 450w
how do i become a distinguished member?
i must of imagined those 4000km boy 250w was pushing me to 45kmh....not

IMO, the issue is not how much any of these motors can take; but how much, for how long.

This is were the fun started. With 48v this bike had a max speed of 45kmh and plenty torque to go with it. Although It did come with a down side as it smoked my stock speed controller after a week.
36v is no prob with stock controller and one motor. 48v will overheat one motor and smoke your stock controller.

People here have not gone as high as 48V with the MY1018Z, since the stock currie (ananda) controller FETs are rated only to 40V.
wasp, based on the information from Kurt and TylerDurden, I'd bet you are on the hairy edge of over stressing both the motor and controller. It would seem prudent to have temperature monitors on both if you were at all worried about avoiding equipment failure.

It should be noted that my comments on the my1018 are now rather dated. During the past year (or so) it has been discussed that TNC got some of the 450W motors made specifically for Currie; that were previously (mis)understood to be the 250W model. My memory fails as to whether a side-by-side photo/test comparison was posted, but I seem to recall some consensus that there really is a 24V 450W my1018z, that powered some of Currie's products.

If that's not confusing enough, Unite's published information is even more confusing; if not downright misleading.

So, I don't doubt that Wasp can flog his Unite @ 450W. (I would be interested to know which make controller is used, since my Ananda might not be up to the task.)

Someone was going to do a side by side of the 250w/450w but never did. The jury is still out on the differences.

I didn't mean to upset or insult you, I genuinely was in a hurry. I know first hand that the my1018z is a pretty powerful motor, it's what I use.

no prob brandon i get a little testy about the unite it truly is a good cheap strong motor
i run a rear 9c now at the same volts and for grunt and bottom end it don't compare
sorry for getting snotty.

No problem :D It is indeed a strong motor, it pulled me 10 miles with minimal pedaling up and down hills on a 3 speed cruiser.
