Hello...

I´m about to order a bottle mount battery for my Bafang BBS-HD - but I´m in doubt which battery to buy...

Some bottle batteries have a max discharge capacity of 15amp... I´m not a genious regarding electric bike motors - but wouldnt I need 20 Amp if I my motor is 1000W with 48V ?

Any tips or experiences on that ? Links are welcome...

Thanks in advance.

All the best.

Michael.

Take a look over here if you are state side.

I got a 52volt 20ah battery for mine.

According to the thread about the Bafang BBS-HD (https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=68110&start=225) the controller can be programmed to a max. of 30A:

The same cable and software that worked to change settings on the controller with the 02 works with the HD. It came from Luna set for throttle in PAS 0 they way I like but they had Max amps at 25. I tried it like that then bumped it up to 30A (controller won't accept any higher number). I also tried setting throttle mode to speed and lie about the wheel size

So you can programme all the controller settings like the BBS02 except you can`t exceed the 30amps - is that what you`re saying?
Interesting.

As long as the battery you choose can discharge 30A without the BMS shutting down you're fine. Don't confuse Ah (capacity) with A (current). For example the following battery has a capacity of 11.5-13.5Ah and a BMS that allows 30A continuous and 70A peak current flow:

Thanks a lot for the replies.

I have been looking at this battery which seems to have a discharge limit of 25A - am I right ?

In the info on that page about the battery they state a continuous current of 20A and a maximum peak of 50A. So it should work if the time you need the maximum of 30A from your BBS-HD is shorter than the time the BMS of the battery will provide the 30A's.

I would personally rather have a battery/BMS that will provide a continuous 30A though.

Thanks for the replies

Under which circumstances would the Bafang pull 30 AMPs continuously? When running full throttle ?

I would prefer one of the round bottle mount batteries, but I can't find it with 30A continious discharge....

There is no point running bbshd if your going to get a cheap battery. Get a bbso2. You have to get better cells if you want a smaller battery. I think those bottle batteries are on the cheaper side

All right - then the way to move forward is the battery from Luna cycles i guess.

Any one know a European dealer of those batteries ?
