kim i beg you, no polishing and no chrome!

There definitely won't be chrome but there will be small bits of highly polished ali...i actually 'brush' finished the panel at 10.30PM last night
the angle iron and fastening plates i will highly polish for a nice contrast, none of it will even be seen once the covers are on anywayz so not a big deal at the end of the day, but i know its there so it has to be prurty LoL.. ...the ali plate is a lil too dinged up for polishing with some deep
scratches on the non protected side...i think it looks cool, will have pics up this arvo, not sure if i'll do any work on it today, hands
are aching a bit and have a few cuts and nicks adding to the aches...see how it goes..

Hyean- pretty sure its laid flat measurement, tiz good stuff too..haven't been in touch with Greig for months now, i'm pretty much right out of the pc scene now...wonder why :-S :p

I got a bunch at the local electronics store, have seen these at the local auto parts store:

Daddz,

That video didn't show up for me, perhaps it's the googlevid, not youtube paranthesis?

That's a badass site Kim, thanks for the link to that, don't see why you couldn't use the flexo pet, stainless would be more trick I suppose.

What about the circle pattern brushed look on that flat plate?

spirit-of-st-louis.jpg

Flexo Pet is what i use, nearly all my wiring is covered in it :)

The lil circles on the ali is rely easy to do, did it on all the alumnium on the 1.8th scale buggies
i had in the 20 years ago There is a special bit available to do it i believe, but can be replicated simply by spinning a shaft
in a drill press with steel woo wrapped around the endl...same result...too 1980's for me though...

KiM

I came across this stuff, looks a lot like your flexo pet but it has some of that 3M retroreflective material woven in with it. looks pretty slick....and safe I guess

Fancy , nice find...

Appologies for lack of updates, i assure you all i have been hard at it each day...i have put in 8
hours in the last two days sanding alumnium and it still could do with at least another 8 hours
...i have 'brushed finished' the top and lower paneels, the fastening plates i have now sanded with 800,
1000. 1200 and 1500 grit..wet and dry sandpaper they hit the wool polishing wheel tomorrow...well..after i get back from fishing
4.30am wake up ...oh hehe and my best mate Snapper, is looking to trade in his Holden Crewman REAL motor Luke :p
350 v8 ...so "test drives" tomorrow arvo hes looking for a late model Ford V8 sedan...of course acceration "test" wil HAVE to be done...

Back on topic......here's a teaser pic of the ali i been workin on-->

Brushed_ali.jpg

"racey" enough for you Rodgah or is it stil to Ricer ? :p

Back with more soon..

haha yeah man, but i feel sorry for your manual labour, do you want a beartex?? honestly, it would of done it in about 2mins flat. Clear coat it too man or your greasy fingerprints will tarnish it. You didnt comment on my megaclamp setup hahaha, your right more is better lol  . It all looks good anyway, will look a treat finished.

HAHA cheers mate, i don't mind sitting there doing it by hand long as the end result is acceptable, which IMO i think it is haha...i will definately
give it a squirt of clear when finished, i still need to do a couple of cuttouts or where the esc and wire terminal block i have planed to sit, till then haha the pices are hanging up in my room so mates and my paws wont frock it up LoL...

.......and raise you with motor/gearbox mount made from 10mm aluminum, connected via 3 x 10mm bolts through a reinforced
seat post... :p

mount.JPG

Which will move/brake/slip first i wonder  :p

Seriously...i like how you have done it mate, looks very neat and strong IMO and the frame remains untouched which i know was
something that had to be considered and "worked around" i think it will hold, but again, only one
way to find out ain't there haha...MAKE IT PiiiiiiSS Rodgah MAke it pisssss... best of luck mate :)

Back soon...

WOW I haven't visited this thread enough... aj looking freakin fantastic dude!! I found you a riding t-shirt or two:

...and for those special nights of bar-hopping:

113784024v4_480x480_Front_Color-Black.jpg

May this T-shirt display your future many a night mate, good luck out there ladykiller!

BWAHAHAHAHA...I was --->||<---- that close to buying a very similar
t-shirt i.e 'Handilapped'...but the Wiminez was up the other way hehehe... I would have no
probs wearing one to a pub or club either

Ok...having rubbed the finger prints off my thumb and two
fingers along with colouring the water red with blood I
used to wet sand the aluminum parts, thankfully ALL
aluminum is prepped ready for polishing  ..
SO today...i think i improved my 2 speed mounting
setup... I was concerned with the whole show moving and possibly
elongating the holes in the seat tube, regardless of how much
i tightened down the 3x 10mm bolts on the mount...SO, i took
some 3mm steel plate and did this-->

2%20Speed_Mounts_series_pics_5.jpg

I knowingly destroyed the 10mm stainless steel bolts & nylocs i used
to hold the plates in place and square, no biggie ill pick up
new ones before final assembly, as a result though, all
above pics the mount is just sitting there not tightened down
as i don't have any 10mm bolts long enough to screw a nut on
even so haha it doesn't have more than a couple of millimeters
sideways movement with the bolts just sitting without nuts on
the bolts! When tightened, the only way it can move is if it
rips the 6x6mm high tensile counter sunk steel bolts out of the
mount...i am well pleased with the outcome.. Take that Rodgah  :p

Excellent work, looks strong enough to use for a motor-mount for my 350 Chevy. I used to water sand with bare hands, now I wear the nitrile gloves or the free rubber gloves my EMT GF gets me. Saves the fingertips for more important things like pickin the guitar or scratchin myself 8)

Nice work.
I was looking forward to saying "told ya so" when the torque of the motor started to chew through those holes in the frame (despite the gussets). It should be good now. Dammit :p

Great work Kim, rock solid solution I think.
Did you have to spread the two plates that attach to the Thudster base plate?
Cheers,
Matt.

Nope not at all Matt slid straight on after cleaned with the mount was cleaned of spatter with flap disk, i had originally planned it to add spacers to allow for additional chain alignment thus had the extra room already on the mount ;)

I do have a heap of gloves here my brother scored for me from his work, i only use them for finberglassing as a rule, shall try em when wet sanding next time see how they go...;)

I doubt it would have, but there was 'slop' so the mount had alot of sideways play, now, it dont move more than a milimeter either way even when there ain't bolts in the mount to hold it on the seat tube :p All good for you HiGHSiDE you will still have the controller to poke fun at when it blows :-S

Cheers Marvin ;) ... I been busy last few days doing some prep work on the frame.. still needing to attach
spring mounts when i can afford the seat/mounting hardware and dual shock setup i'm wanting, along with a
disk brake caliper mount, OH...and the extra wide bottom bracket i still need to weld in place...when i get
one from ChoppersUS.
..As such, had to leave the inner seat stays 'ripples' alone... and the rear dropout
not that it really requires alot of attention haha..First picks are with a lil body filler ...

primed_frame.jpg

Actually required very little body filler once all sanded down, the above pic was actually all yesterdays goingz onz haha...

Below pics...are what i got upto today ;)-->

primed_frame_2.jpg

I said i would have a rolling chassis Monday...lil late but as they say, better late than never unfortunately
though no freaking tubes aaaaagh...so i have just popped the tires on the rims anywayz, they are 24x2.5in Maxxis Hookworms -->

primed_frame_3.jpg

Lotsa room for chain ThudSTeR ;) ... I have bought a disk brake sprocket adapter from Mr Recumpence to fit on the
Sturmey archer too..should be here soon i hope, but i think we can see there looks to be plenty of room ;)

Next pension check i will place an order for a stem @ Chan Reaction Cycles, shall add some tubes to the
order when i do... I have also asked good ol Matt.P to pick up some bars (same as i have on blue cruiser)
Matt will be dropping them at the powder coaters for ,e also, there they will be sandblasted before podwer
coated in Satin Black... (they are originally chrome bars)

...There is stacks of sanding and painting still to do on the bike, rember the pics you see above is a just a
quick coat of etch prmer after a few coats of primer filler and some wet sanding i think she will be good to
go with some colour......Well pleased thus far anwyaz

Back Soon..

At the rate you're moving, you'll have this done soon and still have time to build another just like it for me by Christmas!!

Lookin' goooooooood.

Are you going to keep the labels on tyres, rims and fork?

Morning/afternoon & good evening members... ;)

We prolly look like we are a bit further ahead than we actually are...there is still a bucket load of work unfortunately
some of it can't be done till more $$$ are spent, will be funds/freight delays that will be the decider when this bike rolls
under its own steam, i have bad news going opver what i will earn and what i need to purchase too, there's buckles chance i'll have it rolling
by Christmas without taxing parts from the cruiser which i have said won't happen, will just have to hold on that lil bit longer i'm afraid
not easy when i all i do is look left and see the bike sitting there as i type this message, so hangin' to try the 2 Speed driving me insane!

haha good question, reminds me of a NASCAR at the moment with all the freakin advertising haha... ok... what will remain, are the fork stickers and the
'Maxxis' on the tires the rest will be removed...

Thankyou Mark, I try for form as well as function, occasionally i get it right hahaha...cheers mate ;)

Hi KiM, looking really good as usual mate, ya making it a bit hard for a guy to keep up though  That etch primer looks a bit glossy to what I normally use, what type is it?

Cheers,
GT

GTadman...its just AutoOne Etch Primer buddy, bere in mind alot of those above pics were taken using the flash on the camera
the first pics were done at night the remainder late in the afternoon/early evening...It is also a very very light coat, the
shine on the metal is likely contributing to the 'shine' Here's a pic of the can i used anywayz-->

IMG_6304.jpg

As luck would have it, last night a mate popped in with a box of a dozen or more cans of paint and primer upholstery
paint a friend of his has had sitting in the corner of his shed for the last 6 months since he did a small repair job on his sons car
when asked if he knew anyone that could use it Berin couldn't grab it quick enough for me, he's a good lad haha...
The paint is even gloss black, all AutoOne gear the brand i like to use when painting from aerosol cans! AND theres also tins of paint for
spry gun including 4 liter unopened can of clear LoL... Also got an full can of BelRay chain lube some tins of axle grease and
polish and buffing compound !!! got it all babeee' haha...was well pleased with the score, most cans have at least half in them
some are even 'un-opened' Obviously bought more than he needed...better than not enough i suppose haha

I think if i do any work today it will be on the actuator pivot, i know how i want to do it, involves steel tube, sealed bearings
a router and 10mm aluminum... ghetto milling coming your way stay tuned to this channel LoL...No idea the shape of the
stabilizing arms yet, all i know is how i want the pivot, the length of the actuator and the amount of movement OH and the area
i have to fit it all in... i guess it's times like these a week on AutoCad figuring it out would come in handy? meh...she'll be right
will knock somfin' up this arvo that will do the trick ... :: fingers crossed ::: We aren't doing to bad it does look vaguely similar to the 'plan'
i painstaking and at no expense to the management! drew up LoL...

We is on the right course thus far ;)

Thanks all for the positive comments always appreciated...

Back soon...

Your napkin sketch looks better than mine

That bike is going to be a joy to ride, and with killer looks too! Progress looks great!

Good to hear, I was thinking the same thing - way too many stickers and it detracts from this type of bike. I'd be inclined to remove the fork stickers too but hey it's your ride.
Do your hookworm tyres have 'downhill' printed on them ? I haven't seen that before, and it's an odd thing to write on that sort of tyre given you'd promptly end up on your head if you tried to use them in an offroad downhill environment

Even with the tyres pumped right up it looks like you've got SFA ground clearance there! I guess you're not going to be out jumping gutters and what not on it though. Does that low clearance make the actuator job easier ? It probably wouldn't have to travel as far ?
