gas price thread

I've noticed that gas prices and UGA (US gas fund equity) have been rising while crude oil has not been rising lately.

Excuses from the news broadcast:
California switching to summer blend. :(
Refinery maintenence. :x
Machinists strike.
Refinery explosion.
Problems in Texas.
The usual spring price jump.
And so on, and so on, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

You guys post the price like it matters LMFAO. For the most part I'm off gas and getting further off it everyday. :)

from one of my fav spots:

EIA Trends
US production continues its relentless increase growing by 39K to 9.32m barrels; meanwhile the 4 weeks average stood at 9.28m presenting a strong 14.5% growth vs. last year or 1.18m increase in actual barrels. Demand on the other hand is no less impressive, the 4 week average demand stood at 19.87m vs. 18.46m last year presenting a 1.41m barrels increase which equates to 7.7% growth in demand. Core petroleum demand (Gasoline, Kerosene, Distillates) stood at 14.36m compared to 13.25m thus presenting 1.11m growth vs. last year 8.4% increase in percentage terms.

US supply is yet to slowdown despite the large decline in the rig count (my own estimate is that supply will flatten this month). The rise in demand however has reached impressive levels, and for the first time since I started following this data series, the increase in total petroleum demand as well as core petroleum demand has matched or exceeded supply growth. This is a very bullish development should it continue over the next few months, since such strong demand will lead to a quick withdrawal in inventories once US supply flattens and eventually declines.

i think the rally we had into the beginning of february has now sold off so crude might have closed this week lower than 5 weeks ago.

west coast pricing is hit by an explosion at the fluidized bed reactor at the chevron richmond refinery last month.

i never buy gas much at all anymore. amazing how much i can get around at 35mph in the ZENN car. love driving on juice.

I paid over $3.50 at Costco for 91 the other day. Good thing it's great biking weather :D

Im in shock,i havent bought gas for 7 yrs now and havent been to a gas station in a long time.well i was helping my friend move some cement fixtures in his f250 truck.. it was 116.00.wth happened,i could not believe it.this is a 4-6 xs a month bad habit! i could buy new batteries everymonth. :D

Oil dropped a fair bit the last 4 days or so, there should be a drop at the pump....

WTI hit a new low for this cycle today. down to $42.87 which is a 6 year low. anyone remember 6 years ago when it started climbing from $2?

once all the 'unconventional' oil producers are put out of business, and the equipment sold for scrap and the workers who drill and produce the oil are in new jobs then that is when the OPEC countries and russia will finally agree to cut production.

with the huge demand increase we have already created the impact of production shortfalls then could drive gas prices above $4 again. bet on it.

6 years ago (2009) was just a brief dip in the escalating oil price . It had been over $120 the year before and only briefly dipped down into the $40 range for a few weeks before going over $80 again in 2010.
The last time oil was really in the $20 range was over 10 years ago before it started climbing steadily to over $100 and beyond.
