gas price thread

$2.09 here... $2.19 on the expensive side of town.
Makes me wonder why gas is so expensive where you guys are.... then I remember its because you're being gouged out with taxes and local gas formulation rules.

Yes, surely South Carolina's tax policy will cause its economy to prevail over California's any time now.

we seem to be doing just fine... For example, we're not horribly in debt spending more money then we take in. We often reject federal funding because of the strings attached, and we are expanding like crazy from everything from aerospace to zoos.
We'll do just fine as long as we dont attract too many bleeding heart people that cant do basic economics.... so, stay away.. we're all backwards and stuff. yeah.. ya'll, shrimp n' grits, and evil flags.

no your state rejects federal funding because it would help the poor blacks who still labor under the vestiges of slavery and reconstruction while the remainder of the civilized portions of the country have moved on to developing modern industry and commerce.

given the nature of this board, I cant tell if you're joking... so heres a rabbit with a pancake on its head: :pancake:

RBOB dropped to $1.01 back during the banking crisis, got to a low of $1.42 at the end of 2014 when we had the cheapest gas prices at the pump and just made another low of $1.62 on august 1st. currently slowly pulling off the low but trading down right now at $1.69, and $2.75 at the pump here.

edit: one other notable thing. we hit 17.1mmbopd refinery inputs yesterday and that is a new record i think. i think exports may be close to a record if not setting new record.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose 6.7 cents Thursday to $3.858, its largest daily increase since July 15.
The sharp increase comes a day after a 26-day streak of decreases ended with a decrease of two-tenths of a cent, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price decreased 51.3 cents during the streak.
Despite the back-to-back increases, the average price is 5.8 cents less than one week ago, 19.5 cents lower then one month ago and 3.5 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose 6.3 cents to $3.823, its largest increase since July 15. A 26-day streak of decreases ended Wednesday with an increase of nine-tenths of a cent.
The Orange County average price is 6.3 cents less than one week ago, 19.6 cents lower then one month ago and 4.3 cents below what it was one year ago.

the reporting on the BP refinery shutdown was inaccurate. they had leaks on the larger of their fluid catalytic converters fcc's so they had to shut down. i think it is the 270mbpd unit and they have one still operating at 110 mbpd and the timeline for it to be repaired is about one week from the failure so it should be back up again early next week. they may do other maintenance at the same time while the fcc is down also which could extend the downtime. that would be the normal and expedient thing to do while the cracker is down.

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/76651/20150814/exxonmobil-to-pay-566-600-fine-for-refinery-explosion.htm

Oil giant ExxonMobil was slapped with a $566,600 fine on Thursday after an investigation found that the Feb. 18 explosion at the company's Torrance refinery involved a number of violations.

Employee coffee funds may have been negatively affected. Too early to tell about gas prices.

what would really help is if Exxon decided it is not worth the investment and just closed the refinery and did something else to make money.

there are lots of people criticizing them who think they can do a better job so i think it would be best if Exxon just got out of california refinery management.

maybe that would educate people about what it takes to run a large scale operation or to be without the investments a large corporation like Exxon makes to provide the specialized chemicals people demand to drive on.

Now that aint working, thats the way you do it, lemme tell you, guys aint dumb!
We got to move these, refridgerators...we got to move these color tv's!

How much they save by breaking rules? $9,000,000......that should be the fine! The Gov't doesnt give a rats @$$ about fining them pennies! Its symbolic, to show the Gov't gives a $h17 about the public. The gov't dont care about the public, only care about votes and money from ExxonMobil.

Regular 2.06, premium is 2.16.

I'm still paying 3.50. I figure that it's the way the oil companies get back at Santa Barbara county.

Count your blessings. To get the cheapest gas, I think you'd have to live in South Carolina.
